Preparation of Graphene-amine Nanofluid for Absorption of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) from a Natural Gas Stream in a Wetted Wall Column
Authors
Abstract:
In this study, it was shown that how CO2 and H2S were removed from a natural gas stream, using a nanofluid containing nanoporous graphene in Diehanolamine (DEA). Before running the experiments, the appropriate values were chosen for the nanosheet dosage and the liquid and gas flow rates in the absorption experiments, which were performed in a laboratory scale wetted wall column. In the experiments, the nanosheet concentration ranged from 0.005 to 0.5 wt %.The surfactants and ultrasonic treatment were used to prepare stable nanofluids. It was indicated that using nanoporous graphene in DEA significantly affects on CO2 and H2S absorption in comparison to DEA. The absolute zeta potential values of nanofluids were greater than +35 mV. The effect of different parameters including nanosheet concentration as well as the CO2 and H2S concentration, in the feed gas stream (two different samples) on simultaneous absorption of H2S and CO2 from CO2-H2S-CH4 gas mixture was studied. In the case of using sample #1, (i.e. Feed gas mixture composition: % H2S and 3% CO2 in balance of CH4), an improvement in CO2 absorption to 39% and H2S absorption to 9% was observed at 0.1 wt% of nanoporous graphene/DEA nanofluids.

full textCFD Simulation of a Wetted-Wall Column for Natural Gas Sweetening Using DEA Solution
Natural gas usually contains significant amounts of acid gases when it is extracted from underground reservoirs. Therefore, it must be treated by appropriate processes to remove these acidic components. In this study, the simultaneous absorption of carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide from natural gas into diethanol amine solution was simulated using CFD. Absorption process was performed in a we...
full textRemoval of H2S and CO2 from Biogas by Amine Absorption
Due to strategic and environmental reasons, currently, there is an increasing interest in biofuels as alternative energy source. Bio-alcohols and biodiesel are the alternatives been considered for auto-motion while biomass and biogas are the alternatives been considered for electrical power generation. Biogas is a medium-energy content fuel (~22 MJ/kg) derived from the organic material decompos...
full textInvestigating the Performance of Amine-Grafted Silica-Base Adsorbents in CO2 Removal from a Natural Gas Stream Using a Diffusion Based Mathematical Model
Abstract: Â In this study adiffusion based mathematical model was developed to compare the performance of amine-grafted adsorbents with that of 13X zeolite in a fixed-bed adsorption tower which is used to capture CO2 from both humid and dry nitrogen stream under industrial conditions. The results show that the performance of amine-grafted adsorbent and 13X zeolite is almost the same in the dry ...
full textHydrogen sulfide (H2S) - the third gas of interest for pharmacologists.
Nitric oxide (NO) and carbon monoxide (CO) synthesized from L-arginine by NO synthase and from heme by heme oxygenase, respectively, are the well-known neurotransmitters and are also involved in the regulation of vascular tone. Recent studies suggest that hydrogen sulfide (H(2)S) is the third gaseous mediator in mammals. H(2)S is synthesized from L-cysteine by either cystathionine beta-synthase...
full textHydrogen sulfide removal from biogas using chemical absorption technique in packed column reactors
The toxicity and corrosion potential of hydrogen sulfide in raw biogas underlines the need for biogas purification. Several techniques available for removal of hydrogen sulfide from biogas are out of the reach for common end users due to lack of knowledge, higher running costs, and insufficient operational skills. The present experimental study aims to propagate hydrogen sulfide removal techniq...
