Abstract:

In this paper, the profile of surfaces machined using end mills with flat and ball end tools in modeled. The real kinematics of the tool motion, the static deflection and the run out of the tool are included in the model. The cutting forces are calculated using a semi-empirical method based on orthogonal to oblique conversion of cutting coefficients. The thickness of the uncut chip is used as the critical parameter affected by the tool run out. Based on the above model, the final profile of the surface is generated and compared with existing experimental results

the study of bright and surface discrete cavity solitons dynamics in saturable nonlinear media

Interaction forces between a spherical nanoparticle and a flat surface.

Due to the breakdown of Derjaguin approximation at the nanoscale level apart from the neglect of the atomic discrete structure, the underestimated number density of atoms, and surface effects, the continuum Hamaker model does not hold to describe interactions between a spherical nanoparticle and a flat surface. In this work, the interaction forces including van der Waals (vdW) attraction, Born ...

surface roughness prediction via fuzzy-neural networks in dry machining

optimization of machining parameters is very important and the main goal in every machining process. surface finishing prediction is a pre-requirement to establish a center for automatic machining operations. in this research, a neuro-fuzzy approach is used in order to model and predict the surface roughness in dry turning. this approach has both the learning capability of neural network and li...

Surface Quality in Dry Machining of 55Cr3 Steel Bars

Lubricant and coolant can improve surface roughness in machining. In addition of ecological harms, thermal shock of coolant or lubricant may affect the surface integrity especially on surface residual stresses and micro-crack nucleation. Dry machining is ecologically desirable and it is considered as a necessity for manufacturing enterprises in the recent years. 55Cr3 steel grade is steel with ...

Design, Manufacturing and Surface quality Analysis of Machining by Self-Rotary Milling Tool

One of the disadvantages of conventional milling tools is to produce a large amount of heat in cutting zone and so making the tool warmer. As a result, the tool would be worn and its life time would be reduced. Therefore, in long time machining, it is essential to change inserts and tools, continiously. A milling tool with self rotary cutting inserts was designed and manufactured that enables i...

Ruled Surface Machining on Five-Axis CNC Machine Tools

To achieve high precision and high productivity in machining sculptured surfaces, a new architecture for a five-axis CNC interpolator for machining ruled surfaces was developed and demonstrated on a milling machine. The objective of the five-axis interpolator is to continuously maintain the milling cutter axis in parallel with the straight lines of the ruled surface. The cutter position and ori...
