Abstract:

Objective: Social anxiety disorder (SAD) is defined as a constant fear of being embarrassed or negatively evaluated in social situations or while doing activities in the presence of others. Several studies have examined the role of certain variables that might predict response to treatment and may affect treatment outcome. The purpose of this study was to identify predictive variables of change and improvement. Methods: The English version of the SPIN (Connor et al., 2000) was translated into Farsi and used in this study. In addition to SPIN, the measures including Clinical Interviews with the DSM-IV (Spitzer, Williams and Gibbons, 1994) and Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale-21 (DASS-21) (Lovibond et al., 1995), the Credibility/Expectancy scale (Davilly & Borkovec, 2000) and Homework Compliance scale (Primakoff, Epstein, & Covi, 1986) were administered to a sample of 59 participants with SAD ranging from 18 to 40 years of age. Results: Among the variables studied with the neural network model, logical sense in the Credibility/Expectancy scale (CEQ), depression in DASS, fear and avoidance in SPIN, and the compliance with homework (HCS) were significant in prediction of recovery rate. Conclusion: The artificial neural network is capable in predicting SAD patients' respond to cognitive-behavioral therapy.

PREDICTION OF BIAXIAL BENDING BEHAVIOR OF STEEL-CONCRETE COMPOSITE BEAM-COLUMNS BY ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORK

In this study, the complex behavior of steel encased reinforced concrete (SRC) composite beam–columns in biaxial bending is predicted by multilayer perceptron neural network. For this purpose, the previously proposed nonlinear analysis model, mixed beam-column formulation, is verified with biaxial bending test results. Then a large set of benchmark frames is provided and P-Mx-My triaxial ...

Customers’ Behavior Prediction Using Artificial Neural Network

In this paper, customer restaurant preference is predicted based on social media location check-ins. Historical preferences of the customer and the influence of the customer’s social network are used in combination with the customer’s mobility characteristics as inputs to the model. As the popularity of social media increases, more and more customer comments and feedback about products and serv...

Prediction of ultimate strength of shale using artificial neural network

A rock failure criterion is very important for prediction of the ultimate strength in rock mechanics and geotechnics; it is determined for rock mechanics studies in mining, civil, and oil wellborn drilling operations. Also shales are among the most difficult to treat formations. Therefore, in this research work, using the artificial neural network (ANN), a model was built to predict the ultimat...

scour modeling piles of kambuzia industrial city bridge using hec-ras and artificial neural network

today, scouring is one of the important topics in the river and coastal engineering so that the most destruction in the bridges is occurred due to this phenomenon. whereas the bridges are assumed as the most important connecting structures in the communications roads in the country and their importance is doubled while floodwater, thus exact design and maintenance thereof is very crucial. f...
