Predicting Depression Among Nursing Students Based On Health Anxity And Dysfunctional Attitude Component

Introduction and purpose: Health anxiety and dysfunctional attitudes are important factors in causing and exacerbating psychological trauma. The purpose of the present study was to predict nursing students' depression based on health anxiety and dysfunctional attitude components. Materials and Methods: The statistical population of this study included nursing students of Tehran University of Medical Sciences and the sample consisted of 150 students who were selected by single-stage cluster sampling method and three questionnaires of depression, health anxiety and dysfunctional attitude. data using Pearson correlation and multiple regression analysis were analyzed simultaneously. Findings: Results showed that depression and anxiety Health, dysfunctional attitudes, components of perfectionism and social factors need to confirm there is a significant negative relationship. but health anxiety has the largest share (Beta = 0.330) in explaining the variance of depression and can be a positive predictor of depression. Conclusion: Therefore, it can be said that overall health anxiety and health concerns as well as dysfunctional attitudes in nurses can cause and promote depression in them. Therefore, it is possible to prevent depression in nurses with appropriate interventions to reduce health anxiety and dysfunctional attitudes.
