Abstract:

predation rate of hippodamia variegata (coleoptera: coccinellidae) feeding on different densities of aphis gossypii (hemiptera: aphididae)

predation rate is basic to any investigation of prey-predator interaction and a major component in the selection of predators for biological control. the predation rate of variegated lady beetle, hippodamia variegata (goze), fed on different densities (20, 40, 60, 80 and 100) of third instar nymphs of cotton aphid, aphis gossypii glover, was studied under laboratory conditions (25 ± 1 °c, 65 ± ...

Functional response of larval and adult stages of Hippodamia variegata (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) to different densities of Aphis fabae (Hemiptera: Aphididae).

We compare the efficiencies of different stages of Hippodamia variegata (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) preying on Aphis fabae (Scolpoli) (Hemiptera: Aphididae) by estimating the functional responses of all stages. The experiments were carried out on leaf disks in petri dishes with 15-20 replicates. Our results revealed that all larval instars and adult males and females of H. variegata exhibited t...

functional response of hippodamia variegata (coleoptera: coccinellidae) to different densities of aphis gossypii (hemiptera: aphididae) in an open patch design

functional response of the female ladybeetle, hippodamia variegata (goeze) (col., coccinellidae) to varying densities (5, 10, 20, 40, 60 and 80) of third instar nymphs of aphis gossypii glover was assessed in a growth chamber (25˚c, 65± 5% rh and a photoperiod of 16l: 8d h), on the black eyed bean, vigna unguiculata (l.), in an open patch design. the logistic regression showed a type ii functi...

host plant effect on functional response and consumption rate of episyrphus balteatus (diptera: syrphidae) feeding on different densities of aphis gossypii (hemiptera: aphididae)of aphis gossypii (hemiptera: aphididae)

one of the most important predator-prey interactions is functional response which its type and parameters are affected by different factors including host plant characteristics. in this research, the influence of leaf surface on functional response and prey consumption rate of third instar larvae of the episyrphus balteatus (de geer, 1776) (diptera: syrphidae) to third instar nymphs of aphis go...

Morphological discrimination of Aphis gossypii (Hemiptera: Aphididae) populations feeding on Compositae.

Aphis gossypii Glover is a polyphagous aphid pest with a worldwide distribution. However, there is evidence that on a global scale the name A. gossypii is being applied to a number of forms with different life cycles and/or host-plant associations. Morphometric variation of A. gossypii samples from crops and non-cultivated plants in many parts of the world was examined, to determine whether thi...

bionomics of aphis gossypii (homoptera: aphididae) and its predators coccinella septempunctata and hippodamia variegata (coleoptera: coccinellidae) in natural conditions

bionomics of aphis gossypii glover and its predators coccinella septempunctata l. and hippodamia variegata goeze were studied in varamin (tehran province) during 11th may to 5th october 2006 on eggplant crop, with the interaction (density dependence) between the aphid and either of the predators determined. the reliable sample size (number of leaves) with a maximum variation of 6.73% was about ...
