Post-critical Behavior of Three- dimensional Composite Beams Near the Autoparametric Resonance under Flapwise Excitation

author

Abstract:

The bifurcation analysis of a composite beam subjected to harmonic flapwise base excitation is studied when the ratio of flapwise and chordwise internal resonances is 1:2. Results are obtained by the numerical solution of modulation equations. Chracteristics of the response are investigated in terms of time history, phase portraits diagrams and bifurcation diagram of poincare maps. It is observed that periodic and multi-periodic motions,  jump and stable motion are appeared near the internal and external tunnig frequency parameters

Ultimate Behavior of Composite Castellated Beams under Vertical Loads

The aim of this paper is to carry out extensive numerical investigations about the effect of various parameters on both buckling loads and ultimate behavior of continuous partially composite castellated beams under vertical loads. Efficient nonlinear 3D Finite Element Model using ABAQUS software is developed. The initial geometric imperfection and material nonlinearities were carefully consider...

Autoparametric resonance of relaxation oscillations

Stable normal mode vibrations in engineering can be undesirable and one of the possibilities for quenching these vibrations is by embedding the oscillator in an autoparametric system by coupling to a damped oscillator. We have the possibility of destabilising the undesirable vibrations by a suitable tuning and choice of coupling parameters. In the case of normal mode vibration derived from a re...

Numerical Study on the Crushing Behavior of Square Tubes Under Three Dimensional Oblique Loading

This study aims to numerically investigate on the crashworthiness of thin-walled square tubes by consideration of 3-D oblique loading. In this type of loading, direction of loading is defined by using two spatial angles relative to the position of the tube. To this aim, finite element (FE) analysis is employed to simulate the loading for 8 different numerical models with different loading orien...

Thermomechanical response of HTPB-based composite beams subjected to near-resonant inertial excitation

At this time, there is a pressing need to develop new technologies capable of detecting, identifying, and potentially neutralizing energetic materials, preferably from a stand-off distance. To address this need, an improved understanding of the mechanics of energetic materials, prior to detonation or defl agration, must be developed. In light of this, the present effort seeks to characterize th...

Critical behavior of the three - dimensional XY universality class

We improve the theoretical estimates of the critical exponents for the threedimensional XY universality class. We find α = −0.0146(8), γ = 1.3177(5), ν = 0.67155(27), η = 0.0380(4), β = 0.3485(2), and δ = 4.780(2). We observe a discrepancy with the most recent experimental estimate of α; this discrepancy calls for further theoretical and experimental investigations. Our results are obtained by ...
