Abstract:

This research describes photo degradation of direct red 81(5-solamin) in the presence of zinc oxide nano-sized catalyst supported on granule glass under UV light irradiation. The effects of some parameters such as various pH and different atmosphere on photo degradation efficiency were studied. After various experiments it was revealed that among various atmospheres, at neutural medium, oxygen and air and at alkaline medium nitrogen and oxygen were found as the best atmosphere for photo-degradation. The rate constants of 0.007, 0.004, 0.001 and 0.001 mg/L.min were evaluated for air, oxygen, nitrogen, and argon atmospheres respectively at neutral while the rate constant values of 0.005, 0.004, 0.001 and 0.001 mg/L.min were found for alkaline conditions in the presence of nitrogen, oxygen, air, and argon atmospheres respectively.

Photo Degradation of Direct Red 81 (5-Solamine) by Using Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles on Glass Granule Substrate in Acidic pH and Various Atmospheres

We report photocatalytic decolorization of direct red 81 (5-Solamine) in water at acidic pH and in presence of external UV light irradiation of zinc oxide (ZnO) nanparticle catalysts on granule glass as a semiconductor photocatalysts. In our study the weight of photocatalyst was constant. The photodecomposition rates have been found to be different by applying the different atmospheres through ...

Synthesis and Characterization of Nano-Sized Hexagonal and Spherical Nanoparticles of Zinc Oxide

ZnO plays an important role in many semiconductors technological aspects.  Here,  direct  precipitation  method  was  employed  for  the synthesis of nano-sized hexagonal ZnO particles, which is based on chemical  reactions between  raw materials used  in  the  experiment. ZnO  nanoparticles  were  synthesized  by  calcinations  of  the  ZnO precursor precipitates  at 250  ˚C  for 3hours. ...

Photocatalytic removal of Acid Red 88 dye using zinc oxide nanoparticles fixed on glass plates

In this study, ZnO nanoparticles fixed on glass plates were employed as photocatalysts for the degradation of Acid Red 88 (AR88) dye in aquatic solution. ZnO nanoparticles were synthesized through coprecipitation method and fixed on glass plates. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) techniques were used for characterization of nanoparticle samples. A batch reactor equi...

Effect of Incorporation of Nano-Hydroxyapatite and Nano-Zinc Oxide in Resin Modified Glass Ionomer Cement on Metal Bracket Debonding

Background and Aim: Use of fluoride releasing materials to decrease the risk of demine-ralization around orthodontic brackets would be reasonable as an adhesive for bracket bonding only if they provide acceptable shear bond strength (SBS). The aim of this study was to evaluate the SBS of resin-modified glass ionomer cements (RMGICs) modified by nano-zinc oxide (NZnO) and nano- hydroxyapatite (N...

Synthesis and characterization of porous zinc oxide nano-flakes film in alkaline media

In this study, porous zinc oxide nano-flakes were successfully synthesized by anodization method on zinc substrate in a 0.025 M NaOH and 0.05 M NH4Cl solution with the voltage of 10 V at room temperature. The field emission scanning electron microscopy’s (FESEM) images show the structural evolution during 90 min of the anodization process. They also demonstrate the dependency of growth of ZnO f...
