Peritesticular Fibromyxoma in a Donkey
Authors
Abstract:
Case Description- A seven-year-old male donkey was admitted with a history of left scrotal swelling with ulcerating wound since 2 years.Clinical Findings- The left scrotum was painful. There was ulcerating and hypergranulating wound discharging bloody discharge. The wall of the scrotum was found thick and infiltratedwith soft slimy non capsulated and lobulated fibrous tissue masses. The left testis was found small and atrophied. Pathological studies showed the focal areas of myxomatus degeneration with spindle shaped and stillate connective tissue cells. The epitheluim of seminiferous tubules of left testis appeared denuded with loss of spermatocytes. In addition some tubules appeared collapsed and have wave like hyaline thickened.Treatment and outcome- Surgical castration was done. Daily excerise and systemic antibiotics were recommended. The animal showed recovery within 15 days without recurrent.Clinical Relevence- Peritesticular fibromyxoma should be considered in the diagnosis and treatment of scrotal swelling in the equines. Surgical castration was succeful in the treatment without recurrency.

ovaries we found that new growths of connective tissue had been developed in their stroma, containing in some places myxomatous tissue. Since ovarian connective-tissue tumours seldom occur, and much difference of opinion exists as to their origin, as is shown by the work of Leopold,1 so we took much interest in this case, as the swelling has not yet been described which here presented itself. A...

full textPlexiform Fibromyxoma: A Rare Gastric Tumor
Plexiform fibromyxoma is a rare and distinctive benign mesenchymal neoplasm that occurs in the gastric antrum. This tumor has a potential for misdiagnosis as gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST). It causes mucosa and vascular ulcerations without advancement of the tumor. Cytological bland spindle cells within a variably myxoid stroma characterize the histology of the tumor. We report the case ...

We present a case of a superficial acral fibromyxoma (SAFM) of the distal aspect of the thumb with radiographic evidence of extrinsic pressure erosion of the underlying cortex. This 47-year-old woman presented with a slow-growing mass over the distal aspect of the right thumb that proved to be SAFM on surgical pathology. This is a relatively rare mesenchymal neoplasm of the periungual and subun...
