Peripapillary Intrachoroidal Cavitation and Optic Pit in a Case of High Myopia and Glaucoma

author

Abstract:

Purpose: To report a case of peripapillary intrachoroidal cavitation (choroidal schisis) and optic pit in a case of high myopia and open-angle glaucoma. Case report: A 30-year-old high myopic man was referred to our clinic for presumed peripapillary choroidal tumors. In funduscopy, there were two yellow-orange and slightly elevated peripapillary lesions in both eyes with indistinct margins. A splinter hemorrhage was seen inferior to the left optic disc. Peripapillary enhance depth optical coherence tomography (EDI-OCT) revealed peripapillary intrachoroidal cavitations connected to the vitreous cavity via an optic pit. Peripapillary OCT and perimetry were compatible with glaucomatous damage in both eyes. Conclusion: Peripapillary intrachoroidal cavitation (PICC) should be considered in the differential diagnosis of peripapillary choroidal lesions in high myopic eyes. Patients with PICC should be evaluated for glaucoma and optic pit.

Peripapillary intrachoroidal cavitation in pathological myopia.

CASE REPORT A 54 year old woman with pathological myopia, presented with an elevated, yellowish-white lesion at the inferior border of the myopic conus in her left eye. The optical coherence tomography (OCT) demonstrated an intrachoroidal hyporeflective space. The fluorescein angiography examination (FA) showed early hypofluorescence with delayed staining, with no leakage of contrast. DISCUSS...

Peripapillary Intrachoroidal Cavitation in Myopia Evaluated with Multimodal Imaging Comprising “En-Face” Technique

Objectives. To demonstrate the usefulness of "en-face" Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography (SD-OCT) combined with Fluorescein Angiography (FA) in the investigation of peripapillary intrachoroidal cavitation. Materials and Methods. A 72-year-old man followed for primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) for 4 years was referred for an asymptomatic "peripapillary lesion." A full ophthalmologica...

Multi-modality imaging findings of huge intrachoroidal cavitation and myopic peripapillary sinkhole

BACKGROUND Peripapillary intrachoroidal cavitation was described as the presence of an asymptomatic, well-circumscribed, yellow-orange, peripapillary lesion at the inferior border of the myopic conus in eyes with high myopia. CASE PRESENTATION A 66-year-old myopic Chinese man was enrolled and his multi-color imaging examination showed a well-circumscribed, caesious, peripapillary lesion coale...

Disc haemorrhage associated with an enlarged peripapillary intrachoroidal cavitation in a non-glaucomatous myopic eye: a case report

BACKGROUND Disc haemorrhage (DH) is considered a characteristic sign of glaucoma, but its causative mechanism remains to be determined. We present a case of DH that occurred in association with an enlarged peripapillary intrachoroidal cavitation in a non-glaucomatous eye. CASE PRESENTATION A 35-year-old woman was evaluated for a DH that had been detected during a preoperative examination for ...
