Abstract:

Haemorrhagic septicaemia (HS) is a fatal systemic disease of cattle and buffaloes. Some control isachieved with administration of alum-precipitated or oil-adjuvanted killed whole-cell vaccines injectedsubcutaneously. These vaccines, however, provide only short-term immunity and for effective use, theyshould be administered annually. We constructed an aroA attenuated derivative of a Pasteurella multocidaserotype B:2 strain by allelic exchange of the native aroA sequence with aroA sequences disrupted with akanamycin resistance cassette. This strain was confirmed to be aroA mutant by PCR. The aroA derivativewas highly attenuated for virulence in a mouse model of HS and rabbits. Mouse and rabbit challengeexperiments showed that i.p. or i.m. vaccination of an aroA strain completely protected mice or rabbitsagainst challenge with a high dose (>1000 LD50) of the parent strain.

contribution of setting to the study of characters and the main idea in e. brontes: wuthering heights and t. hardys: return of the native.

this thesis aims to adduce an unmitigated and comprehensive explication concerning the relationship of three significant elements of fiction: setting, chracter and theme. my research is basically placed on two outstanding novels of the 19th century: emily brontes wuthering heights and thomas hardys return of the native. my endeavour lies in studying the correlation among the three above-mention...

Comparative Genomic Analysis of Asian Haemorrhagic Septicaemia-Associated Strains of Pasteurella multocida Identifies More than 90 Haemorrhagic Septicaemia-Specific Genes

Pasteurella multocida is the primary causative agent of a range of economically important diseases in animals, including haemorrhagic septicaemia (HS), a rapidly fatal disease of ungulates. There is limited information available on the diversity of P. multocida strains that cause HS. Therefore, we determined draft genome sequences of ten disease-causing isolates and two vaccine strains and comp...

IDENTIFICATION AND Il\1MUNOGENICITY OF POLYSACCHARIDE ANTIGENS OF PASTEURELLA MULTOCIDA STRAINS INVOLVED IN HAEMORRHAGIC SEPTICAEMIA Naj1nul

Polysaccharide antigens of Pasteurella multocida serotype B:2,5 were identified by immunodiffusion and immunoelectrophoresis. The immunodiffusion tests showed that the first line, near the well containing the whole polysaccharide extract (WPE) represent LPS because this precipitation line occurs by diffusion using antiserum raised against P. multocida serotypes 8:2,5 and E:2,5 but not with 8:3,...

Analysis of Pasteurella Multocida Strains Isolated from Cattle with Haemorrhagic Septicaemia by the Use of Pfge

Forty Pasteurella multocida subsp. multocida strains collected from cattle with haemorrhagic septicaemia belonging to serotype B:2, 5 and two reference strains of serotype B:2, were examined. The strains were isolated in the years 1958 to 1962 and 1985 to 1995. Analysis of the polimorfism of restricted DNA fragments by the use of the pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) technique of contour-...

construction and validation of the translation teacher competency test and the scale of students’ perceptions of translation teachers

the major purpose of this study was to develop the translation teacher competency test (ttct) and examine its construct and predictive validity. the present study was conducted in two phases: a qualitative phase as well as a quantitative phase. in the first phase of the study, the author attempted to find out the major areas of competency required for an academic translation teacher. the second...
