P-39: HSV-2 Seroepidemiology and Risk Factorsamong Iranian Women: A Time to NewThinking
Authors
Abstract:
Background: This study designed to determine and compare the prevalence of HSV-2 infection between two groups of women with high and low risk behaviors in Tehran. Materials and Methods: 362 women attending OB & GY clinics as low risk group and 156 prisoner and DIC (drop in Center) resident women in Tehran as high risk group, were enrolled in this cross sectional study. HSV-2 antibodies were tested by Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA), Data analyzed by independent T-test, Chi square, Pearson correlation coefficient, univariateand multiple logistic regression model by SPSS software. P-values less than 0.05 were considered as significant. Results: The prevalence of IgG antibody in high risk group was significantly more than low risk women (26.3% vs. 2.5%; p

HSV-2 Seroepidemiology and Risk Factors among Iranian Women: A Time to New Thinking
BACKGROUND Genital herpes is a common sexually transmitted disease in many developed and developing countries mostly caused by Herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2). METHODS In this seroepidemiologic study, 362 women attending obstetrics and gynecology clinics as low risk group ...
full textPrevalence and risk factors of HSV-1 and HSV-2 antibodies in European HIV infected women.
OBJECTIVES To investigate the prevalence and risk factors of HSV-1 and HSV-2 antibodies in HIV infected women and the association between recurrent genital ulcerations and HIV disease progression in HSV-2 positive women. METHODS The presence of HSV antibodies was tested in 276 of the 487 women participating in a European cohort study of HIV infected women. Prevalence rate ratios described the...

Avidity of Antibodies against HSV-2 and Risk to Neonatal Transmission among Mexican Pregnant Women
OBJECTIVE To determine HSV-2 seroprevalence, risk factors, and antibody avidity among a sample of Mexican pregnant women. MATERIAL AND METHODS The avidity test was standardized with different urea concentrations and incubation times; the cut-off point was calculated to determine the low avidity (early infection). IgG antibodies against HSV-2 were detected from pregnant and postpartum women fr...
full textAntibody to HSV gD peptide induced by vaccination does not protect against HSV-2 infection in HSV-2 seronegative women
BACKGROUND In the HIV-1 vaccine trial RV144, ALVAC-HIV prime with an AIDSVAX® B/E boost reduced HIV-1 acquisition by 31% at 42 months post first vaccination. The bivalent AIDSVAX® B/E vaccine contains two gp120 envelope glycoproteins, one from the subtype B HIV-1 MN isolate and one from the subtype CRF01_AE A244 isolate. Each envelope glycoprotein harbors a highly conserved 27-amino acid HSV-1 ...
