Abstract:

Background: Clinical infertility is defined as the inability to become pregnant after 12 months of unprotected intercourse. Worldwide, more than 80 million couples suffer from infertility;the majority of this population are residents of developing countries. In vitro fertilization (IVF) is the most successful of the infertility treatments, and for many people is the last possibility for pregnancy. The implantation process is currently considered as the most relevant limiting factor for successful pregnancy. Thus, implantation failure of the trophoblast should be a major cause of repeated unsuccessful attempts at IVF. The embryo Leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) is one of the key cytokines in the embryo implantation regulation and it is located at 22q12.2. The aim of this study was to investigate the C/T polymorphism in LIF gene for its involvement in IVF outcome. Materials and Methods: This study included 60 infertile women who underwent an IVF cycle and 57 healthy volunteers. Genomic DNA was extracted from peripheral blood leukocytes. Genotypes were determined by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP). Statistical analysis was performed using the MedCalc program for Windows version 12. Results: No significant difference of the frequency of LIF gen polymorphism was observed between patients and control groups (p>0.05). Conclusion: LIF gene polymorphism may not be associated with IVF outcome in this population.

Ovarian stimulation outcome in infertile women with endometriosis undergoing IVF.

Objectives: The aim of our study was to assess the influence of ovarian endometriosis on the outcome of controlled ovarian stimulation (COS) in IVF patients with normal functional ovarian reserve. Material and methods: This was a retrospective case-control study of patients undergoing IVF/ICSI treatment between January 2013 and September 2014, aged ≤40 years and a good ovarian reserve, characte...

P-41: Association Study of MICA*008 Gene Polymorphism with Chlamydia Trachomatis Infection in Infertile Men Reffer to Royan Institute

Background: Chlamydia trachomatis(CT) is an obligate intracellular bacteria, requires living cells to replicate itself. CT infection can remain up to 4 years in the couple and affect their fertility. The relationship between CT and infertility is very important because most patients are asymptomatic and untreated. After infection with CT, NK activation signals begin through interactions of its ...

P-192: Association of Cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) Gene Polymorphism with Clomiphene Citrate Treatment in Iranian Infertile Women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Background: Clomiphene Citrate (CC) is the most frequently administered drug for the treatment of female infertility [e.g. polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)]; which aims at restoring ovulation. Clomiphene is metabolized by CYP2D6, an important enzyme responsible for the metabolism of approximately 25% of clinically used drugs. CYP2D6 is very polymorphic and thought to result in inter- individual...

P-194: SEPT12-G800A Polymorphism in Azoospermic Infertile Men Referred to Royan Institute

Background: SEPTINS belong to a family of polymerizing GTP-binding proteins that are required for many cellular functions, such as vesicular trafficking, mitosis, membrane compartmentalization and cytoskeletal remodeling. Among all SEPTIN genes, SEPT12 is dominantly expressed in testis tissue of adults, known as an essential annulus component of mature sperm. Therefore, it is hypothesized that ...

Association of estrogen receptor 1 rs9340799 polymorphism with implantation failure in Iranian infertile women

Purpose: Estrogen as a crucial hormone during pregnancy acts by two types of receptors.   Estrogen receptor alpha, expressed by estrogen receptor 1 (ESR1) gene, is more abundant and   exists in all human reproductive systems. Association of ESR1 gene polymorphism has been   shown in some reproductive fields such as spontaneous abortion, endometriosis-related infertility   and in vitro fertili...
