Ordered Nanoporous Alumina Membranes Formed in Oxalic/Phosphoric Acid Using Hard Anodization
Authors
Abstract:
Highly self-ordered alumina nanopore arrays were fabricated using hard anodization technique in different mixtures of oxalic/phosphoric acid. The phosphoric acid concentration was varied from 0.05 to 0.3 M while the oxalic acid concentration was changed between 0.3 and 0.4 M. The self ordered nanoporous arrays were obtained in anodization voltage changing from 130 to 200 V. The interpore distances ranging from 270 to 500 nm were achieved. The interpore distance of the ordered samples was dependent upon the both anodization voltage and current density. The current density increased by increasing the anodization voltage that may be a reason to reduce the interpore distance from 2.2 V to 2.1 V. The best self ordered porous alumina oxide were obtained with 160, 165, and 185 anodization voltages, using different values of oxalic and phosphoric acid concentration. It was obtained that increasing the oxalic acid concentration in the electrolyte along with reducing the rate of anodization voltage controlled the hard anodization treatment such as better self ordered arrays.

The self-ordering of nanoporous anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) in the course of the hard anodization (HA) of aluminum in sulfuric acid (H2SO4) solutions at anodization voltages ranging from 27 to 80 V was investigated. Direct H2SO4-HA yielded AAOs with hexagonal pore arrays having interpore distances D(int) ranging from 72 to 145 nm. However, the AAOs were mechanically unstable and cracks formed a...
full textStructural tuning of photoluminescence in nanoporous anodic alumina by hard anodization in oxalic and malonic acids
We report on an exhaustive and systematic study about the photoluminescent properties of nanoporous anodic alumina membranes fabricated by the one-step anodization process under hard conditions in oxalic and malonic acids. This optical property is analysed as a function of several parameters (i.e. hard anodization voltage, pore diameter, membrane thickness, annealing temperature and acid electr...
full textFabrication of Self-Ordered Alumina Films with Large Interpore Distance by Janus Anodization in Citric Acid
Self-organized porous anodic alumina (PAA) formed by electrochemical anodization have become a fundamental tool to develop various functional nanomaterials. However, it is still a great challenge to break the interpore distance (Dint) limit (500 nm) by using current anodization technologies of mild anodization (MA) and hard anodization (HA). Here, we reported a new anodization mode named "Janus...
full textMonitoring Transport Across Modified Nanoporous Alumina Membranes
This paper describes the use of several characterization methods to examinealumina nanotubule membranes that have been modified with specific silanes. The functionof these silanes is to alter the transport properties through the membrane by changing thelocal environment inside the alumina nanotube. The presence of alkyl groups, either long(C18) or short and branched (isopropyl) hydrocarbon chai...
