Opto-acoustical filter based on phoxonic crystal ring resonator

Authors

Abstract:

In this paper, a phoxonic crystal structure is designed that shows a complete phononic and photonic ban gap and is capable to guide the optical waves with transverse magnetic polarization and acoustic waves. The materials used in the structure are nylon and molybdenum, which have suitable refractive index and elastic constant. Also, it is worth of noting that the filling factor is 28% for the proposed structure, which causes easy fabrication. The proposed structure is a phoxonic filter that represents only a given frequency or wavelength in the output. This is performed by passing through ring resonators, having the minimal frequency width or wavelength. Given that it is difficult to match light and sound in phoxonic structures, the structure has advantages including better sound and light coupling between input and output, frequency and wavelength sharpness, and low frequency width or wavelength, compared to phononic or photonic ring resonator-based filters, due to the triangular ring and also causes the improvement of output results and increased output quality. Methods of finite element, plane wave expansion, and finite difference time domain are used for simulation.

Design of a new narrow band channel drop filter based on photonic crystal ring resonator

In this design an optical ring resonator are embedded between two Horizontal input and output waveguides which has 4 orbitals around the center of the resonator so that each orbital consists of 8 rods with different size in which radius of larger orbitals rods are bigger than radius of smaller orbitals rods. The analysis of simulation results showed the proposed filter has the transmission effi...

Plasmonic Adder/Subtractor Module Based on a Ring Resonator Filter

A four port network adder-subtractor module, for surface plasmon polariton (SPP) waves based on a ring resonator filter is proposed. The functionality of module is achieved by the phase difference manipulation of guided SPPs through different arms connected to the ring resonator. The module is designed using the concepts of a basic two-port device proposed in this paper. It is shown that two po...

Analysis of Protein Concentration Based on Photonic Crystal Ring Resonator

In this paper, homogeneous, wavelength shift biosensor is designed for sensing the protein concentration using two dimensional Photonic Crystal Ring Resonator (PCRR). The sensor is designed to monitor the protein concentration from 0% to 100%. The proposed sensor is composed of periodic Si rods embedded in an air host with a circular PCRR that is placed between the inline quasi waveguides. It i...

A New Design for Photonic Crystal Ring Resonator Based Add-Drop Filter Using Nested Rectangular Rings

In this paper using nested Rectangular resonator we have designed an add-drop filter based on photonic crystal structures suitable for optical communication applications. The drop efficiency and the quality factor of our proposed filter is 100% and 2508. In this filter the quality factor is significantly improved with respect to other published reports. The simulation results are obtained using...

All optical 1 to 2 decoder based on photonic crystal ring resonator

In this paper we combined an optical mixer via photonic crystal ringresonator to propose an all optical 1 to 2 decoder. The main idea used in this paper isbased on controlling the optical behavior of the resonant ring via optical powerintensity. We know that resonant wavelength of the photonic crystal ring resonator isvery sensitive upon the refractive index of dielectric rods, on the other had...
