Abstract:

Reverse supply chain is a process dealing with the backward flows of used/damaged products or materials. Reverse supply chain includes activities such as collection, inspection, reprocess, disposal and redistribution. A well-organized reverse supply chain can provide important advantages such as economic and environmental ones. In this study, we propose a general framework and formulate a mathematical model for product return in reverse supply chain. We consider a multilayer, multi-product for the model. The main objective of the paper is minimizing the total costs of reverse supply chain including transportation, fixed opening, operation, maintenance and remanufacturing costs of centers. To validate the mathematical model, a numerical example is solved using Lingo 9 software and the results are reported. Keywords: Reverse Supply Chain, Product Return, Mathematical Model.

Remanufacturing System: Characterizing the Reverse Supply Chain

End-of-life strategies, such as remanufacturing, have gained ground in order to promote product reuse, reduce environmental impacts and costs, as well as to win new markets. The remanufacturing process preserves part of the product’s raw materials and added value during its manufacturing. This study addresses the system that includes remanufacturing in order to understand it and to define its e...

Pricing and Remanufacturing Decisions of a Decentralized Fuzzy Supply Chain

The optimal pricing and remanufacturing decisions problem of a fuzzy closed-loop supply chain is considered in this paper. Particularly, there is one manufacturer who has incorporated a remanufacturing process for used products into her original production system, so that she can manufacture a new product directly from raw materials or from collected used products. The manufacturer then sells t...

Considering chain to chain competition in forward and reverse logistics of a dynamic and integrated supply chain network design problem

In this paper, a bi-objective model is presented for dynamic and integrated network design of a new entrant competitive closed-loop supply chain. To consider dynamism and integration in the network design problem, multiple long-term periods are regarded during planning horizon, so that each long-term period includes several short-term periods. Furthermore, a chain to chain competition between t...

Supply Chain Coordination through Lead Time Crashing in a Socially Responsible Supply Chain Considering Transportation Modes and Carbon Emissions Tax

In this paper, a socially responsible supply chain consisting of one supplier and one retailer is proposed. The supplier decides on replenishment cycle multiplier and the retailer invests in corporate social responsibility (CSR) and decides on the order-up-to-level under a periodic review replenishment policy. The retailer’s decisions impact on the supplier’s probability as well as the supply c...

Optimizing Energy Costs and Water Whithdrawal in a Prototype Water Supply System

Water requirements in many large water supply systems are provided by mixing water withdrawal from surface and underground resources with different quantity and quality.Water supply from underground sources requires energy consumption and surface water resources are limited and unstable. The aim of this research is managing optimal supply of required water of system with minimum energy cost and ...

Impact of Cannibalization in a Remanufacturing Supply Chain

Using a Bass Diffusion model we investigate the effect of cannibalization within a hybrid manufacturing /remanufacturing/refurbishing system. The hybrid system consists of newly manufactured products, remanufactured products, and refurbished products. The impact of the collection, remanufacturing, and refurbishing ratios on economic performance are simulated and analyzed. We numerically calcula...
