Abstract:

Background: To explore and compare the dual embryo transfer DET with single embryo transfer SET weather electively or not, in more viewpoints like financially, and scientifically and finding out which of these policies may give better outcome by analyzing both in a neutral broad spectrum manner. Materials and Methods: A computerized comprehensive search studies ended in finding of 62 articles of which 49 are from specialized web sites consisting of randomized and non randomized clinical trials, reviews, comments, analysis, debates, and reference lists was done in the PubMed and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (Central). Results: The comparison between all these articles found to be unreliable due to the huge variation between them all, but mainly SET has the advantage of minimizing the twinning and multiple pregnancy rate MPR, on the other hand it has less benefit when compared to DET in the matter of implantation rate IR, ongoing pregnancyrate OPR, but a comparable results may be obtained when applying eSET of frozen-thawed embryo. Conclusion: Larger clinical trials should still be encouraged for such comparison especially in applying same criteria for both methods.

O-25: Relation between Follicular Fluid Levels of 25 Hydroxy Vitamin D and Clinical Pregnancy following Embryo Transfer

Background: Animal and in vitro studies have shown that 25-OH vitamin D plays a significant role in different parts of body. Few data exist about the role of 25- OH vitamin D in reproduction. Insufficient levels during pregnancy are potentially associated with increased risk of preeclampsia, insulin resistance and gestational diabetes mellitus. Recently, few studies have assessed the prognostic...

Elective single embryo transfer

The aim of the study was to evaluate if the elective single embryo transfer (eSET) strategy could maintain the delivery rates, with at least one live born child, and at the same time decrease the rate of multiple births. A costeffectiveness analysis was also performed between the elective single embryo transfer (SET) (1+1) and double embryo transfer (DET)(2+0) strategies. Another aim was to inv...

[Single embryo transfer].

Thanks to assisted reproduction technology (ART) most couples with infertility can be helped today. Since the beginning of ART, however, two major problems have existed. In the first years of IVF more than one embryo was transferred in order to reach acceptable pregnancy rates, but this entails a risk of multiple pregnancy with all its morbidity and mortality due to premature birth. Also, studi...

Elective single-embryo transfer

N umerous publications have investigated the practice of elective single-embryo transfer (eSET) (1–27). Single-embryo transfer after in vitro fertilization (IVF) has been advocated as the only effective means to avoid multiple pregnancy in IVF cycles (28). Elective SET is defined as the transfer of a single embryo at either the cleavage or blastocyst stage of embryo development that is selected...

IVF Treatment and Single Embryo Transfer

IVF has been described as one the medical breakthroughs of the 20 th Century. Over 5 million children have been born using the methods first developed by Robert Edwards who died last year. However there is continuing concern about some of the outcomes of IVF treatment (Kamphuis et al., 2014), particularly the high number of multiple births, a problem which became apparent only a few years after...
