numerical solution of incompressible boussinesq equations using fourth-order compact scheme: lock exchange flow

in recent years, the number of research works devoted to applying the highly accurate numerical schemes, in particular compact finite difference schemes, to numerical simulation of complex flow fields with multi-scale structures, is increasing. the use of compact finite-difference schemes are the simple and powerful ways to reach the objectives of high accuracy and low computational cost. compa...

Adjoint Parabolized Stability Equations for Receptivity Prediction

This paper presents the Adjoint Parabolized Stability Equations (APSE) which are used to predict the receptivity of shear layers to a variety of disturbances. Results from the APSE are first carefully validated against solutions of the Adjoint Navier–Stokes (ANS) equations which demonstrates that APSE is an accurate and effecient means of predicting receptivity. Then APSE is used to document th...

numerical solution of unsteady and non-linear rossby adjustment problem using fourth-order compact maccormack scheme

the compact finite difference schemes have been found to give simple ways of reaching the objectives of high accuracy and low computational cost. during the past two decades, the compact schemes have been used extensively for numerical simulation of various fluid dynamics problems. these methods have also been applied for numerical solution of some prototype geophysical fluid dynamics problems ...

High-Order Compact Difference Scheme for the Numerical Solution of Time Fractional Heat Equations

A high-order finite difference scheme is proposed for solving time fractional heat equations. The time fractional derivative is described in the Riemann-Liouville sense. In the proposed scheme a new second-order discretization, which is based on Crank-Nicholson method, is applied for the time fractional part and fourth-order accuracy compact approximation is applied for the second-order space d...

Numerical solution of functional integral equations by using B-splines

This paper describes an approximating solution, based on Lagrange interpolation and spline functions, to treat functional integral equations of Fredholm type and Volterra type. This method can be extended to functional differential and integro-differential equations. For showing efficiency of the method we give some numerical examples.

Using operational matrix for numerical solution of fractional differential equations

In this article, we have discussed a new application of modification of hat functions on nonlinear multi-order fractional differential equations. The operational matrix of fractional integration is derived and used to transform the main equation to a system of algebraic equations. The method provides the solution in the form of a rapidly convergent series. Furthermore, error analysis of the pro...
