Abstract:

Ring resonators have always been referred to as a highly flexible structurefor designing optical devices. In this study, we have designed and simulation a fourchannel optical demultiplexer using square photonic crystal ring resonator. The squarelattice constant for this purpose structure is used. The purposed structure has an averagecrosstalk, transmission coefficient, quality factor and channel spacing of -14.5 dB, 90%,858 and 1.6 nm, respectively. To obtain the photonic band gap of the structure, the planewave expansion (PWE) method has been used and the finite-difference time-domain(FDTD) method has been also used to analyze the optical behavior of the structure. Thegood results obtained from designing and simulating optical demultiplexer structuresuch as narrower channel spacing indicate the high flexibility of this structure and ringresonator for being used in designing optical devices as well as their suitability for beingused in wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) systems.

A Novel Structure for Optical Channel Drop Filter using Two-Dimensional Photonic Crystals with Square Lattice

In the present paper a novel structure for optical channel drop filter (CDF) based on photonic crystal ring resonator with circular core has been proposed. In order to design the proposed CDF, the plan wave expansion (PWE) method is applied for calculation of band structure and photonic band gap while the transmission characteristics of proposed CDF have been calculated using the finite differe...

A novel all-optical N-channel Demultiplexer based on Chained Symmetric-Mach-Zehnder-Interferometers in OTDM Network

The paper presents a novel N-channel chained symmetric-Mach-Zehnder-interferometers demultiplexer (CSMZI) for high-speed OTDM networks. The proposed scheme offers parallel demultiplexing capability with reduced complexity. Simulation results show that low bit error rate performance is achieved with low power penalty.

A novel design for all-optical NAND/NOR/XOR gates based on nonlinear directional coupler

In this paper a novel all-optical logic NAND, NOR and XOR gate based on nonlinear directional coupler theory is demonstrated. We use the identical structure which contains three waveguides, for designing these gates; the only difference however, is the power of inputs light beam. In other words, while a beam with 4 W/μm in power considered as logical one, the output is NAND gate and if a beam w...

Multicasts on WDM All-Optical Butterfly Networks

On the wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) optical networks, when the number of wavelengths for realizing a set R of routing requests is beyond the number of wavelengths supported by an optical link, multiple rounds of routing for R are required. R = {(u, v)} is a set of multicasts if each source u sends a message to at least one destination v and each destination v receives a message from e...
