Abstract:

In current study, the synthesis and characterization of novel thermally stable polyimides (PIs) containing an 1,3,4-oxadiazole moiety based on a diamine, i.e. 2,5-bis(3-amino-4-methyl benzene)-1,3,4-oxadiazole (BAMO), have been reported. The polymers were characterized using FT-IR and elemental analysis (CHN). Thermal and mechanical behaviours of the prepared PIs were studied by thermo-gravimetric analysis/differential thermal analysis TGA/DTA, and dynamic mechanical thermal analysis (DMTA). The obtained results reveal PI (4), which was obtained from BAMO and 4,4'-(hexafluoroisopropylidene)diphthalic anhydride (6FDA) exhibited the best thermal and mechanical properties.

Synthesis and characterization of new heat-resistance polymers based on N- (4-carboxy phenyl) trimellitimide and aromatic diamines

Five new aromatic poly(amide-imide)s (5a-e) were synthesized by direct polycondensationreaction of N-(4-carboxy phenyl) trimellitimide (3) with five aromatic diamines (4a-e) by usingtriphenyl phosphite in N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) and pyridine at solution containingdissolved CaCl2. All of the polymers were obtained in quantitative yields with inherentviscosities between 0.29-0.40 dL/g. The r...

Synthesis and characterization of thermally stable aromatic polyamides and poly(1,3,4-oxadiazole-amide)s nanoparticles containing pendant substituted bezamides

BACKGROUND The introduction of pendent bulky groups along the polymer backbone results in a less ordered polymer matrix and increases the solubility characteristics without affecting thermal properties. The inclusion of chromogenic chemical moieties in the chains can give rise to the luminescent converter material which permits the preparation of materials with potential applications. Aromatic ...

An Alternative Method for Synthesis of Thermally Stable Aromatic Polyesters Containing Schiff Base Unites

In this paper, an efficient method for synthesis of aromatic polyesters containing schiff base units is described by preparation of two polyesters. These polyesters have been prepared by the reaction of terephthaloyl dichloride on Schiff bases derived from p-hydroxybenzyldehyde and 4,4-diamino diphenyl ether, 4,4-diamino diphenyl methane. The Polymers were characterized by IR, CHNS, thermal...

Synthesis and Characterization of Aromatic–Aliphatic Polyamide Nanocomposite Films Incorporating a Thermally Stable Organoclay

Nanocomposites were synthesized from reactive thermally stable montmorillonite and aromatic-aliphatic polyamide obtained from 4-aminophenyl sulfone and sebacoyl chloride. Carbonyl chloride terminal chain ends were generated using 1% extra sebacoyl chloride that could interact chemically with the organoclay. The distribution of clay in the nanocomposites was investigated by XRD, SEM, and TEM. Me...
