New high-efficiency protective coating containing glycidyl-POSS nanocage for improvement of solar cell electrical parameters
Authors
Abstract:
Various antireflection thin films are often used to cover glass to increase solar cell electrical parameters. In the recent years many efforts have been done to develop and improve of solar cell films with high electrical output. One of the most important challenges of obtaining of high-efficiency thin films of solar cells is creation an effective light trapping system. The new polymeric protecting materials are called polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (POSS) that can improve the solar cells properties. In the present work, firstly Tetraglycidyloxypropyl tetramethyl POSS was synthesized via sol-gel method and used to prepare TGTM POSS-silica nanocomposite, then it was applied on solar cell slides. The structural, morphological, thermal, optical and electrical properties were investigated by TEM, FTIR, NMR, FE-SEM, TGA, UV-VIS spectroscopy and solar simulator. Evaluation of the obtained results showed that the efficiency of solar cells was improved twice or more (50%) compared with that without POSS coating. The coatings transmittances were equal 100% that are ideal for solar cell films. The solar cells stability to solar light with POSS coating was also evaluated. The obtained results showed that the degradation of solar cell transmission and efficiency after exposure to UV was negligible (lower than 1%).

Electrical and plasma parameters of ICP with high coupling efficiency
A novel design of ICP with high coupling efficiency is presented. The efficiency augmentation is achieved using a thin window and an antenna coil enhanced by a ferromagnetic core. Considerable improvement of ICP electrical and plasma characteristics is demonstrated through experiments in ICP operated at 2 MHz in a wide range of argon gas pressures between 1 mTorr and 1 Torr, and discharge power...
full textLocal uniqueness solution of illuminated solar cell intrinsic electrical parameters
Starting from an electrical dissipative illuminated one-diode solar cell with a given model data at room temperature (I sc , V oc , R s0 , R sh0 , I max ); we present under physical considerations a specific mathematical method (using the Lambert function) for unique determination of the intrinsic electrical parameters (n, I s , I ph , R s , R sh ). This work proves that for a given arbitrary f...
full textEfficiency improvement of silicon solar cells enabled by ZnO nanowhisker array coating
An efficient antireflection coating is critical for the improvement of silicon solar cell performance via increased light coupling. Here, we have grown well-aligned ZnO nanowhisker (NW) arrays on Czochralski silicon solar cells by a seeding-growth two-step process. It is found that the ZnO NWs have a great effect on the macroscopic antireflection effect and, therefore, improves the solar cell p...

In this work, we used the Atlas Tcad Silvaco software to investigate the effect of adding an additional BSF layer on the performance of InGap / GaAs dual junction solar cells with a hetero tunnel Al0.7Ga0.3As-In0.49Ga0.51P junction. These analyzes indicate that, the addition of a BSF layer to the bottom cell the increase in the thickness of the BSF top cell would reduce the recombination and in...
full textSolar cell efficiency enhancement using a hemisphere texture containing metal nanostructures
One major problem of the conventional solar cells is low conversion efficiency. In this work, we have proposed a new design including hemisphere texturing on top and metallic plasmonic nanostructure under the silicon layer to enhance the optical absorption inside the photosensitive layer. The finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method has been used to investigate the interaction of light wi...
full textSurface hardness improvement in high efficiency deep grinding process by optimization of operating parameters
The grinding is one of the most important methods that directly affects tolerances in dimensions, quality and finished surface of products. One of the major problems in the material removal processes specially grinding is the heat generation during the process and the residual tensile stress in the surfaces of product. Therefore, optimization of High Efficiency Deep Grinding (HEDG) process is t...
