Neonatal Ovarian Cyst Diagnosed Antenatally by Ultrasonography in Firoozgar Medical Center
Authors
Abstract:
SUMMARY The widespread use of high-resolution, real time ultrasound has enabled physicians to identify a variety of fetal anatomy abnormalities. About 15-25% of fetal diseases can be diagnosed and even treated antenataly. This is a report of a case with fetal ovarian Cyst which has been confirmed with ultrasonography both antcnataly and postantaly, and caused intestinal obstruction in neonate. There is a history of previous ovarian cyst, infertility and goiter in her mother. She got pregnant 2 years after operation of ovarian cyst without any medical treatment. As we know, this is the first report of ovarian cyst in fetus and neonate with previous history of ovarian cyst in mother.

Antenatally diagnosed ovarian cyst with torsion managed laparoscopically
Ovarian cyst are the most common intra-abdominal cyst in female neonate. With the help of ultrasound one can make an antenatal diagnosis. We present one such neonate, she was managed by laparoscopic excision. We conclude that neonatal laparoscopy is technically feasible for management of such cysts.
full textAn Unusual Size of Neonatal Ovarian Cyst
Neonatal ovarian cysts (NOC) are usually self-limiting structures, however, large or complex cysts may lead to severe complications. Unfortunately, no standard guidelines have been introduced for the management, treatment and follow-up of these cysts. In this report, we aimed to introduce a very large NOC without any pre- and post-natal complications. A 30 year-old mother, gravida 2, para 2, wi...
full textAbdominal hydatid cyst with presentation of ovarian cyst in ultrasonography: case report
Background: Hydatid cyst is an endemic disease in Iran and many middle eastern countries. The clinical presentation of Echinococcus granulosus infection depends upon the site of the cysts and their size. Small and/or calcified cysts may remain asymptomatic indefinitely. However, symptoms due to mass effect within organs, obstruction of blood or lymphatic flow, or complications such as rupture o...
full textA Tailgut Cyst—Cystic Mass Diagnosed by Prenatal Ultrasonography
Tailgut cysts are congenital lesions found in the presacral space. These have been mainly identified in adults and are rare in children, especially neonates. Here, we present the case of a neonate with a presacral cystic mass detected by prenatal ultrasonography that was diagnosed as a tailgut cyst after postnatal surgical removal. When a presacral cyst is encountered, tailgut cyst should be co...
full textSplenic Cyst Mimicking Gastric Subepithelial Tumor Diagnosed by Endoscopic Ultrasonography
Recent research reveal that the diagnosis of gastric extraluminal compressions mimicking subepithelial tumor is increasing in numbers as esophagogastroduodenoscopy becomes widespread. Endoscopic ultrasonography is a very useful tool for differentiating extraluminal compressions from subepithelial tumors. Gastric extraluminal compressions are due to compression by either normal adjacent organs o...
full textAntenatally Diagnosed Wilms’ Tumour
Wilms' tumour (WT) is seldom seen in a neonate and prenatal diagnosis is rare. We present a case of antenatally diagnosed left sided WT with features of hydrops foetalis in a girl baby. Emergency LSCS was done at 34 weeks of gestation for foetal distress. Patient required mechanical ventilation for birth asphyxia and congestive cardiac failure. After stabilization, gross total resection of the ...
