Abstract:

Novel N-amino benzylthiolates were synthesized via multicomponent reaction of malononitrile, isothiocyanates and benzyl halides under conventional and solvent-free conditions. Various electron-donating and -withdrawing substitutes within both isothiocyanates and benzyl halides were used to demonstrate the efficiency of new methodology. A broad spectrum of antibacterial and antifungal activities were observed especially within benzyl halides containing electron-withdrawing aryl substituents.

Mild and Solvent-free Synthesis and Antibacterial Evaluation of Novel Sulfonamides Containing Hydroxyl Groups

A series of interesting sulfonamides containing hydroxyl group were synthesized under solvent-free conditions. The synthetic route involves the selective reaction of amino alcohol and sulfonating agents. The sulfonamides were obtained by simple procedure after an easy work-up in high yield and purity, and characterized by IR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR analysis. These compounds were tested for antibact...

Green Chemical Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Novel N-substituted Rhodanine Derivatives as Potential Antifungal Agents

Background and purpose: In medicinal chemistry, molecules containing rhodanine(2-thiazolidine-4-one) ring as a magic multifunctional privileged structural and functional scaffold show a broad range of potent pharmacological properties containing anti-microbial, antiviral, anti-diabetic, and anti-convulsant effects. Evidence suggests that the activity of the rhodanine derivative correlates with ...

Solvent-Free Multicomponent Reactions of Dithiocarbamates, Activated Acetylenes and Isocyanides

An efficient method to synthesis the 2H-pyrans using three component reactions of dithiocarbamats, activated acetylenes and isocyanides in water as the solvent is described. In these reactions, synthesis of 2H-pyrans is possible based on the one-pot reaction and without using any catalyst. The mild reaction conditions and high yields of the products exhibit synthetic advantage of these methods.

Green Technique-Solvent Free Microwave Synthesis and Antimicrobial Evaluation of New Thiopyridine Arabinosides.

A green protocol has been applied to synthesize a novel series of 3-cyano-2-(tri-O-acetyl-β-D-arabinopyranosylthio)pyridines in a short reaction time, in higher yields and with simpler operations, when compared with the conventional heating method. Deacetylation of the obtained acetylated arabinosides produced 2-(β-D-arabinopyranosylthio)-3-cyanopyridines. The structures of the obtained product...
