Modeling of Continuous Systems Using Modified Petri Nets
Authors
Abstract:
Due to the changes which may occur in their parameters, systems are usually demonstrated by some subsystems for different conditions. This paper employs Modified Petri Nets (MPN) to model theses subsystems and makes it simple to analyze them. In this method, first, the continuous transfer function is converted to a discrete transfer function and then, by MPN, system is modeled and analyzed. All subsystems can be modeled and used in state control or cascade control loops. Here, the focus is mainly on the conception as well as the definitions of the new unified representation model for continuous control systems. Simulation results show that the new method for modeling continuous systems works effectively.

full textModeling biological systems using Petri nets
Petri Nets (PNs) are used more and more, sometimes in combination with software like Cell Illustrator, to model (complex) biological systems, or networks. As a lot of extensions to PNs exist, it is possible to model different abstraction levels; from purely qualitative to quantitative. It is even possible to add quantitative data to a qualitative model using these different extensions of PNs. T...

We present Hybrid Stochastic Petri Nets (HSPNs) as a revision and extension of the Fluid Stochastic Petri Nets (FSPNs). HSPNs can be used for modeling dynamic systems that comprise both discrete and continuous quantities. Discrete state changes are assumed to be Markovian and continuous variables are assumed to be deterministic. HSPNs are designed to improve the clarity and consistency of the g...

Exercise 2 (Producer/Consumer). A producer/consumer system gathers two types of processes: producers who can make the actions produce (p) or deliver (d), and consumers with the actions receive (r) and consume (c). All the producers and consumers communicate through a single unordered channel. 1. Model a producer/consumer system with two producers and three consumers. How can you modify this sys...

1. Model a producer/consumer system with two producers and three consumers. How can you modify this system to enforce a maximal capacity of ten simultaneous items in the channel? 2. An inhibitor arc between a place p and a transition t makes t firable only if the current marking at p is zero. In the following example, there is such an inhibitor arc between p1 and t. A marking (0, 2, 1) allows t...
