MicroRNA-205 inhibits renal cells apoptosis via targeting CMTM4
Authors
Abstract:
Objective(s):MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNA molecules that regulate gene expression. They have important roles in kidney development, homeostasis and disease, and participate in the onset and progression of tubulointerstitial sclerosis and end-stage glomerular lesions that occur in various forms of chronic kidney disease (CKD). In the present study, we elucidated the role of microRNA 205 (miR-205) in cisplatin-induced renal cell apoptosis and explored the molecular mechanisms. Materials and Methods:The chronic interstitial nephropathy rat model was induced, and the miRNA expression profile in the kidney cells from rats with CKD was screened. Cisplatin-induced apoptosis in normal renal HK-2 cells was evaluated using flow cytometry, and regulation of miR-205 on target gene was validated using luciferase assay, western blot and real time PCR assays. Results: We found that miR-205 expression was significantly decreased in the cells from kidney of CKD rat (P

full textMicroRNA-205 inhibits Src-mediated oncogenic pathways in renal cancer.
The Src family of protein kinases (SFK) plays key roles in regulating fundamental cellular processes, including cell growth, differentiation, cell shape, migration, and survival, and specialized cell signals in various malignancies. The pleiotropic functions of SFKs in cancer make them promising targets for intervention. Here, we sought to investigate the role of microRNA-205 (miR-205) in inhib...
full textMicroRNA‑214 promotes proliferation and inhibits apoptosis via targeting Bax in nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells.
The deregulation of microRNAs (miRNAs) is involved in the development and progression of various types of human malignancy. Previously, it has been suggested that miR‑214 has an oncogenic role in nasopharyngeal carcinoma. However, the detailed molecular mechanisms remain to be elucidated. In the present study, reverse transcription‑quantitative polymerase chain reaction and western blot analysi...
full textMicroRNA-148b enhances proliferation and apoptosis in human renal cancer cells via directly targeting MAP3K9
Increasing evidence revealed that miRNAs, the vital regulators of gene expression, are involved in various cellular processes, including cell growth, differentiation, apoptosis and progression. In addition, miRNAs act as oncogenes and/or tumor suppressors. The present study aimed to verify the potential roles of miR148b in human renal cancer cells. miR‑148b was found to be downregulated in huma...
full textMicroRNA-205 suppresses the growth of adrenocortical carcinoma SW-13 cells via targeting Bcl-2.
Compared to adrenocortical adenoma (ACA), adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) has very poor prognosis and limited treatment options. Also conventional methods to distinguish ACC from ACA can be difficult. At this time, no molecular pathological markers are reliable enough to distinguish either tumor. Recently, increasing data have indicated miRNAs to be crucial regulators in the tumor‑related proces...
