Abstract:

Condensation of aromatic aldehydes with benzoyl acetone under specified conditions yieldedtwo series of polycarbonyl compounds in which the keto group is attached to olefinic linkage.Spectral and analytical data revealed the formation of an unsaturated triketone from pyridine-3-carbaldehyde and unsaturated diketone from furfural, salicylaldehyde and 2-hydroxynaphthaldehyde. Analytical, IR, 1H NMR and mass spectral data suggest neutralbidentate coordination for the unsaturated triketone with Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) ions. In the[ML2] complexes of the unsaturated diketones, the intramolecularly hydrogen bonded enolproton is replaced by the metal ion.

Carbonyl Compounds Enols and Enolate Ons. Unsaturated and Polycarbonyl Compounds

ome of the most useful reactions of carbonyl compounds involve carbonhydrogen bonds adjacent to the carbonyl group. Such reactions, which can be regarded as the backbone of much synthetic organic chemistry, usually result in the replacement of the hydrogen by some other atom or group, as in the I I I I sequence H-C-C=O -+ X-C-C=O. The important examples we I I will consider in this chapter are ...

Benzoyl radicals from (hetero)aromatic aldehydes. Decatungstate photocatalyzed synthesis of substituted aromatic ketones.

Benzoyl radicals are generated directly from (hetero)aromatic aldehydes upon tetrabutylammonium decatungstate ((n-Bu(4)N)(4)W(10)O(32)), TBADT) photocatalysis under mild conditions. In the presence of alpha,beta-unsaturated esters, ketones and nitriles radical conjugate addition ensues and gives the corresponding beta-functionalized aryl alkyl ketones in moderate to good yields (stereoselective...

Synthesis and characterization of some transition metal complexes of Schiff base derived from 2,4 - dihydroxybenzaldehyde

Abstract New N2O2 type Schiff base has been designed and synthesized by condensing 2,4 dihydroxy benzaldehyde and α-naphthylamine in ethanol. Solid metal complexes of the schiff base with Cu(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II) metal ion were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, magnetic susceptibility, molar conductance, IR, UV-Vis and ‘H NMR spectral studies. The data shows that the c...

Synthesis and Characterization of Metal Complexes with New Unsymmetrical Schiff Base Ligand Derived from 2-Aminoethanethiol

A new unsymmetric thioether diamine N - ( 2 - ( 2 - aminophenylthio) ethyl) benzene - 1 , 2 - diamine was prepared through the nucleophilic substitution of cysteaminium chloride with 1 - chloro - 2 - nitrobenzene and then the nitro groups of prepared compuond converted to the amine by zinc powder and ammonium chloride. Then, unsymmetric Schiff bass ligand 2 - ((( 2 - (( 2 - (( 2 - (( 2 - hydrox...

Metal-Free Trifluoromethylation of Aromatic and Heteroaromatic Aldehydes and Ketones

The ability to convert simple and common substrates into fluoroalkyl derivatives under mild conditions remains an important goal for medicinal and agricultural chemists. One representative example of a desirable transformation involves the conversion of aromatic and heteroaromatic ketones and aldehydes into aryl and heteroaryl β,β,β-trifluoroethylarenes and -heteroarenes. The traditional approa...
