Abstract:

Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a major metabolic disorder worldwide which is characterized by having three or more of the five metabolic abnormalities. These metabolic abnormalities include abdominal obesity (waist circumference &ge; 90 cm for men and &ge; 80 cm for women), high triglyceride levels (TG) (&le; 150 mg/dL), decreased high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-c) (< 40 mg/dL in men and < 50 mg/dL in women), increased blood pressure (BP) )systolic &ge; 130 mmHg and/or diastolic &le; 85 mmHg(, and elevated fasting blood glucose (FBG) (&ge; 100 mg/dL)
