Abstract:

This study aimed to fulfill demands of information on aquaculture capability and to estimate ecological potential in Golestan Province. Aquaculture site selection (warm and cold water fishes) was conducted by MCE[1] method using GIS. The aquaculture suitability maps were produced by multi-criteria evaluation model (MCE), Fuzzy and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) in ArcGIS 9.3. The most appropriate site for warm and cold water aquaculture was identified by improving the quality and data precision including elevation digital model map with an appropriate pixel size, rock map, agrology, water quality parameters (water temperature, acidity salinity) and etc. Results implicated the potential of the study area for aquaculture development in commercial scale. The other finding in terms of commercial aquaculture obtained in the present study was the near-by road which accelerates delivery of the fish pond products to the civil markets.   [1]multi-criteria evaluationmodel

Water Quality Restoration Using Landscape Metrics Analysis: A Case Study in the Golestan Province of Iran

Abstract The results of an integrated study aimed at restoring water quality in a large watershed including seven catchments in north east Iran are presented in this paper. This case study demonstrates how landscape metrics reflect direct or surrogate causes of the land use practices that are the determinants of water quality parameters. Water quality factors included EC, pH, Cl-1, HCO3-1, SO4-...

Estimation of Water Demand of Agriculture Sector by Water-Yield Function (Case Study: Sistan Province)

In this study, yield-water and profit function was used to obtain water demand function in agriculture sector. The results showed that the ratio of actual to potential Evapotranspiration had positive, significant effecton the ratio of actual to potential yield for wheat and barley. Also, square ratio of actual to potential Evapotranspiration had negative, significant relationship. After estimat...

A Novel Lipase as Aquafeed Additive for Warm-Water Aquaculture

A novel Acinetobacter lipase gene lipG1 was cloned from DNA extracted from intestinal sample of common carp (Cyprinus carpio), and expressed in E. coli BL21. The encoded protein was 406 amino acids in length. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that LipG1 and its relatives comprised a novel group of true lipases produced by Gram-negative bacteria. LipG1 showed maximal activity at 40℃ and pH 8.0 whe...
