Abstract:

Background: Noradrenaline (NA), the principal neurotransmitter released from sympathetic nerve terminals, influences T-cell maturation, not only directly in developing T cells, but also indirectly, by acting on the thymic nonlymphoid cells. In vitro and in vivo studies have demonstrated the anti-proliferative, anti-migratory, antiangiogenic and cytotoxic properties of propranolol, β-AR blocker, against various cancers. Objectives: To evaluate the effect of propranolol on efficacy of HSP-70 rich lysate vaccine in immunotherapy of fibrosarcoma. Methods: Mouse fibrosarcoma WEHI-164 cells were used to immunize tumor-bearing mice with or without propranolol and HSP-70. Splenocytes proliferation, cytotoxic activity of the splenocytes, naturally occurring CD4+ CD25high T-reg cells and IFN-γ and IL-4 secretion as well as tumor size, were assessed to describe the anti-tumor immune response. Results: A significant increase in the level of IFN-γ in the mice vaccinated with WEHI-164 cells enriched with HSP-70 and co-treated with propranolol was observed compared to controls. However, HSP enrichment or propranolol treatment alone did not enhance the immune response as measured by the level of IFN-γ. Likewise, a decrease in tumor growth in the test group (p

Penile fibrosarcoma tumor in a bull

This is a report of a penile fibrosarcoma in a two-year-old crossbred Holstein bull. The ulcerated tumormass with dimensions of 7 × 9 × 6.5 cm, was enveloped the glans and body of the penis. It had a white-graycolor at cross section appearance. There was no metastatic evidence of regional lymph node enlargement.Histopathologically, elongated spindle-shaped cells arranged densely in the interwov...

the effect of injection of heat shocked tumor cell lysate on splenocytes proliferation and nitric oxide production in balb/c mice with fibrosarcoma tumor

introduction: the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of the hsp-70 (heat shock protein-70) induction in the lysate of heat shocked tumor cells on splenocyte proliferation, nitric oxide production by peritoneal macrophages, and fibrosarcoma tumor size reduction in balb/c mice. material and methods: wehi 164 cells (mouse fibrosarcoma cell line) were injected subcutaneously into the r...

Identification of Pancreatic Cancer-Associated Tumor Antigen from HSP-Enriched Tumor Lysate-Pulsed Human Dendritic Cells

PURPOSE Vaccine strategies utilizing dendritic cells (DCs) to elicit anti-tumor immunity are the subject of intense research. Although we have shown that DCs pulsed with heat-treated tumor lysate (HTL) induced more potent anti-tumor immunity than DCs pulsed with conventional tumor lysate (TL), the underlying molecular mechanism is unclear. In order to explore the molecular basis of this approac...

Effect of Immune Responses Against Hydatid Cyst Antigens on Growth of Melanoma Tumor

Background: Hydatid cyst is the larval stage of the tape worm parasite, Echinococcus granulosus. Human is infected by ingestion of parasite ova excreted in dog feces. The anticancer activity of different antigens of hydatid cyst has been reported in the previous works. In this research, the role of immune system in induction of this anticancer activity has been investigated.Materials and Method...
