Abstract:

We report a patient with pain, abdominal palpable mass and a history of previous open renal stone surgery.  Imaging studies showed a right pelvic kidney with multiple calyceal stones. We describe the successful management through laparoscopic assisted percutaneous nephrolithotomy with ultrasonography (PCNL) in ectopic pelvic kidney, stressing that this method is a minimally invasive therapeutic option in such cases; especially ultrasound was used for locating the stones and taking access to the collecting system instead of the fluoroscopy.

Laparoscopic assisted percutaneous nephrolithotomy in ectopic pelvic kidneys.

Three patients underwent laparoscopic assisted percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PNL). A kidneys, ureter and bladder (KUB), and intravenous pyelogram (IVP) of the first patient showed a 3 cm calculus in a right side ectopic pelvic kidney overlying on the sacrum. The second patient had bilateral ectopic kidneys. The right kidney was located in the true pelvis without calculi and the left kidney was ...

Laparoscopic assisted percutaneous nephrolithotomy in chronic kidney disease patients with ectopic pelvic kidney

PURPOSE Patients with deranged renal functions have a number of associated factors which can impair healing of wound and increase postoperative morbidity. This study was conducted to assess the problems while managing ectopic pelvic kidney calculi using laparoscopic approach for percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) in chronic kidney disease patients. SUBJECTS AND METHODS Patients with calculi ...

Laparoscopic Assisted Transperitoneal Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy for Stones in Pelvic Kidney

c Abstract: The most common form of renal ectopy is pelvic kidney and treating stone disease and achieving complete stone clearance in such anatomical anomaly is difficult. We report a case of patient with pain in left iliac fossa and evaluation revealed left pelvic kidney with multiple renal calculi. We describe the successful management of calculi with laparoscopic assisted Percutaneous Nephr...
