Kinetics and Mechanism of Oxidation of n-Pentanol by Tetramethylammonium Fluorochromate
Authors
Abstract:
The oxidation of n-pentanol by tetramethylammonium fluorochromate in acidic solution wasstudied using spectrophotometric technique. The reaction was arranged to be under pseudo firstorderconditions respect to the oxidant. A Michaelis-Menten type kinetic was observed respect tothe substrate. The reaction is catalyzed by hydrogen ions. Dependences of the reaction rates ontemperature and different solvents have been studied. The solvent effect was analyzed usingKamlet-Taft's and Swain's multiparametric equations. Finally, a mechanism consistent with theobserved results has been proposed and discussed.

full textKinetics of oxidation of Thiomalic acid by Quinaldinium fluorochromate
The kinetics of oxidation of thiomalic acid by quinaldinium fluorochromate(QnFC) has been studied in non aqueous medium. The oxidation kinetics was followed photoelectric colorimetrically in the temperature range of 30°C–60°C. The reaction shows unit order dependence each with respect to substrate and oxidant. The reaction is catalyzed by hydrogen ions. The hydrogen ion dependence takes in the ...

The oxidation of Mandelic Acids (MA) to the corresponding oxoacids with tripropylammonium fluorochromate (TriPAFC) in aqueous acetic acid has been studied. The reaction is first order with respect to [TriPAFC], [MA] and [H+]. The oxidation of α-deuteriomandelic acid shows the presence of a primary ki...
full textThe Gas Phase Oxidation of Acetaldehyde Reaction Mechanism and Kinetics
The mechanism of the low temperature oxidation of gaseous acetaldehyde was investigated in the temperature range of 1 50-400?°C. The minor, intermediate and major products were identified and measured quantitatively by sampling directly into the ionization chamber of an MS10-C2 mass spectrometer from the reactor. The formation of H2O, CO, CO2, HCOOH, H2, HCHO, CH3COOH and CH3OH as the major pro...

15 صفحه اولThe Kinetics and Mechanism of Oxidation of the N-Substituted Urea-Titanium (III) Complexes by Iodine (AS I-3) in Ethanol and Acetonitrile
The oxidation of complexes of Ti(III), (TiL6)3+ (L=ur, Meur, DMeur, DEture, N-Bu-ur, and Phur), by iodine as I3- in ethanol and acetonitrile solutions, appears to proceed as a second order reaction and is much faster in ethanol solution (where solvolysis occurs) than in acetonitrile. The enthalpy of activation appears to decrease as ligand's size ...
