Abstract:

This study describes the genetic relationships among 34 varieties of Lallemantia iberica using inter-retrotransposon amplified polymorphism (IRAP) and retrotransposon-microsatellite amplified polymorphism (REMAP). Samples were collected from Agriculture Research Center of Urmia city (northwest Iran). Ten IRAP and REMAP primers generated 76 scorable electrophoretic bands with 78.94% polymorphism. The pair-wise Jacquard genetic similarity varied from 0.48 to 0.94 for IRAP and REMAP data combined. Average PIC values for IRAP and REMAP markers were 0.38. The retro-elements marker system produced 76 alleles in range of 100- 3000 bp. The cophenetic correlation coefficient between Jaccard’s similarity matrix and the plotted dendrogram was 0.66. A dendrogram constructed based on COMPLETE LINKAGE. Cluster analysis of IRAP and REMAP data using the NTSYSpc 2.02 resulted in five clusters. The present study represents high genetic distance at genotype level suggesting that IRAP and REMAP markers are useful for Lallemantia ibericagenetic diversity analysis.

Transposon-based tagging: IRAP, REMAP, and iPBS.

Retrotransposons are a major component of virtually all eukaryotic genomes, which makes them useful as molecular markers. Various molecular marker systems have been developed that exploit the ubiquitous nature of these genetic elements and their property of stable integration into dispersed chromosomal loci that are polymorphic within species. To detect polymorphisms for retrotransposon inserti...

genetic diversity in iranian melon populations and hybrids assessed by irap and remap markers

retrotransposons (rtns) constitute informative molecular markers for plant species because of their ability to integrate into a multitude of loci throughout the genome and thereby generate insertional polymorphisms between individuals. in the present study, rtn-based molecular markers, irap (inter-retrotransposon amplified polymorphism) and remap (retrotransposon-microsatellite amplified polymo...

phylogeography and genetic diversity of the lesser mouse- eared bat (myotis blythii) in iran

in current study, 63 samples of bat populations collected from differ regions were used for evaluating the geographic variations. twenty cranial and dental characters for traditional morphometric and landmarks method on the ventral, dorsal skull and mandible for geometry morphometric studies were used. statistical analyses of traditional morphometric and geometry morphometric data indicated low...

Study of Genetic Diversity among Philodendron Varieties by Randomly Amplified Polymorphic DNA Markers

In the present study, Randomly Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers were used to analyze the genetic diversity in 20 varieties of Philodendron. The polymerase chain reaction was performed with 60 RAPD primers, out of which 21 primers showed clear amplification as well as more polymorphism. In total, 354 scorable RAPD loci with 348 polymorphic bands (98%) were observed. Percentages of polymo...

Development of retrotransposon-based markers IRAP and REMAP for cassava (Manihot esculenta).

Retrotransposons are abundant in the genomes of plants. In the present study, inter-retrotransposon amplified polymorphism (IRAP) and retrotransposon-microsatellite amplified polymorphism (REMAP) markers were developed for the cassava genome (Manihot esculenta Crantz). Four cassava cultivars (Fécula Branca, IPR-União, Olho Junto, and Tamboara, two samples per cultivar) were used to obtain IRAP ...

comparative assessment of irap, remap, issr, and ssr markers for evaluation of genetic diversity of alfalfa (medicago sativa l.)

the effectiveness of irap, remap, ssr, and issr markers were investigated to assess genetic diversity among and within eight medicago sativa l. populations. a total of 101, 119, 117 loci and 31 alleles were amplified using 10 irap, 14 remap, 16 issr and eight ssr primers, respectively. irap markers generated the maximum proportion of polymorphic loci per primer (pplp) while the maximum value of...
