Abstract:

Efficiency measurement is critical for industries where firms do not face strong competition, as we cannot rely on the market to discipline the firms' efficiency. Railway is a typical example. At the same time the fact that railway produces multiple outputs using the common set of inputs calls for a delicate and sophisticated treatment in measuring the efficiencies. In this article, the DEA method is used to determine RAI (RahAhan Iran) efficiency comparison with other countries. The scale efficiency rate of RAI was calculated and showed the percentage of 0.564. Finally, by analyzing this performance, a suitability in inputs and outputs for reaching the efficiency boundary was resulted.

assessment of the efficiency of s.p.g.c refineries using network dea

data envelopment analysis (dea) is a powerful tool for measuring relative efficiency of organizational units referred to as decision making units (dmus). in most cases dmus have network structures with internal linking activities. traditional dea models, however, consider dmus as black boxes with no regard to their linking activities and therefore do not provide decision makers with the reasons...

Efficiency Analysis of Public Universities in Iran Using DEA Approach: Importance of Stakeholder’s Perspective

Our primary aim, in this paper, is to propose and investigate, for the first time, the application of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) technique in assessing Iranian public universities. We provide an analysis on the importance of the stakeholder’s perspective on the structure of DEA and the variations of efficiency results. For illustrations, we perform efficiency analysis on a sample of public...

Healthcare efficiency assessment using DEA analysis in the Slovak Republic

A regional disparity is becoming increasingly important growth constraint. Policy makers need quantitative knowledge to design effective and targeted policies. In this paper, the regional efficiency of healthcare facilities in Slovakia is measured (2008-2015) using data envelopment analysis (DEA). The DEA is the dominant approach to assessing the efficiency of the healthcare system but also oth...

Measuring Efficiency of Knowledge Production in Health Research Centers Using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA): A Case Study in Iran

INTRODUCTION Efficiency analysis is necessary in order to avoid waste of materials, energy, effort, money, and time during scientific research. Therefore, analyzing efficiency of knowledge production in health areas is necessary, especially for developing and in-transition countries. As the first step in this field, the aim of this study was the analysis of selected health research center effic...

An Analysis of International Outsourcing in Iran-China Trade Relations

Iran-China relations are deeply rooted in history and have been enhanced recently with bilateral cooperation in the areas of energy, arms sales, trade, political cooperation and cultural ties. The objective of this paper is to analyze the role of international outsourcing in form of trading intermediate products on bilateral trade relations between Iran and China. As an empirical work, we h...

Energy Efficiency in Iran Provinces: DEA Approach

The main aim of this paper is to evaluate the energy efficiency in 30 provinces of Iran by applying the different methods of DEA and Anderson and Peterson during the period of 2009-2013. Also, since classical analysis models do not differentiate efficient cases, the AP method (Anderson-Peterson) was used to rank efficient units for evaluating efficiency correctly. So that combination of input v...
