Investigation electivity of live food sturgeon fry of Persian sturgeon (Acipenser persicus) in earth ponds of Marjani center of Gorgan

Authors

Abstract:

This study whitin fourty days of rearing in four earthern ponds in the spring of 2013 and in the six treatments were carried out. For this purpose, sampled from zooplankton and benthose in the earthern ponds and stomach contents of the 240 fry. The abundance of prey items in the stomach and the environment was investigated to determine the electivity index for each prey item. The electivity values range from -1 to 1 where 1 indicated a positive selection for that prey item, -1 indicated an avoidance of that prey item and zero implied a random selection. In the earthen ponds, Rotifer, and Daphnia were dominated with frequency 172.6, 123.8 among in six aquatic animals at sixth sampling (treatment 6), but the chironomid larvae(Chironomus sp.) had a highest frequency 40.25 in tertiary sampling. In the stomach contents Daphnia , Diaptomus and chironomid larvae(Chironomus sp.) was observed. Daphnia and Chironomid larvae were the dominant organisms. The highest positive elctivity of Daphnia (0.83) was observed in treatment 3 while for chironomid (0.59) it was in treatment 6.As after day 30, there was an increasing positive selection for Chironomid and a decreasing selection for Daphnia.

Morphological and Histological Study of Kidney in Juvenile Great Sturgeon (Huso huso) and Persian Sturgeon (Acipenser persicus)

Sturgeons are ancient and commercial fishes which posses’ primitive characteristics and due to their great inflections are able to live in both freshwater and marine environments. So their kidney has great ability for adaptation process. In order to find the structure and distribution of kidney nephrons in juvenile Huso huso and Acipensr persicus, sampling of head, body and caudal parts of kidn...

Study of epidermis development in sturgeon (Acipenser persicus) larvae.

Fish skin is essential for survival, maintenance of body shape, and protection against the shock and infection. During week 1 of sturgeon larval development, the epidermis is thin and not differentiated in various layers yet, but by week 4-6 the thickness increases and various layers appear, depending upon the region of the body. Mucous cells differentiate early in development on the surface of...

Ecophysiological indicators of stress in female Persian sturgeon, Acipenser persicus

The study on the ecophysiological impacts of stress in female Persian sturgeon broodfishes revealed that the average cortisol level varried in all broodfish caught at the Sefidrud River (163.38±21.2ng mL-1), Sefidrud River estuary (260.27±19.7ng mL-1) and Gorganrud River estuary (179.38±20.8ng mL-1). The variations in serum glucose levels were 140.65±12.05mg dL-1, 144.44±5.9mg dL-1 and 126.24±1...

Assessment in Vitro Oocyte Maturation and Blood-Circulating Steroid Hormones in Persian Sturgeon (Acipenser Persicus) Spawning

The in vitro effect of 17α, 20β-Dihydroxyprogesterone on the maturation of Persian sturgeon (Acipenser persicus) oocytes for 7, 10, 12, 24 and 30th hours of incubation were investigated. Blood serum, testosterone (T), progesterone (P4) and 17-β estradiol concentrations were measured using enzyme-linked immuno-sorbent assay (ELISA). The oocytes were incubated in SIS, RM2, L-15 and PSACF media in...

Interrelationships among Egg, Larvae and Maternal Characteristics in Persian Sturgeon Acipenser persicus

This study was aimed to observe the correlations among egg, larvae and maternal characteristics of Persian sturgeon. A total of 41 females were used and the variables including fertilization rate, incubation survival rate, larvae survival rate during yolk sac absorption (before feeding), and larvae survival rate after first feeding were determined. As a result, fertilization rate was positively...
