Investigating the rate of migration of plasticizers from PET bottles into frying oil during storage

Abstract:

Oils extracted from plants have been used since ancient times and in many cultures .frying oils are used in many countries all around the world including Iran. Therefore it is of great importance to ensure the safety of these food products which are usually delivered in polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles. This study has investigated the effect of storage time and temperature on the migration rate of phthalate compounds from PET bottle into frying oil. In more detail, migration rate of Bis (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate was measured in the 1st, 30th, and 60th days of storage within two different temperatures of 20 and 40 °C. At the both storage temperatures, increasing the storage time led to a statistically significant rise of the migration rate of phthalate compounds (p<0.1). Furthermore, it was determined that Bis (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate had a higher migration rate at 40 °C comparing to 20 °C.

study on the migration of terephthalates from pet bottles of sunflower oil, production of pars vegetable oil

in iran, the majority of vegetable oil producers , use pet for packaging their products . due to high solubility of pet oligomers in the oils , and shelf life of liquid oils , it is expected that some compounds migrate into the oil . this study was carried out to determine the amount of migration of terephtalates from pet bottles into sunflower oil and the effect of temperature and storage time...

the effect of e-64 on the developmental competence of sheep cocs during in vitro maturation

in the present study, the effect of e-64 at different concentrations (0.5, 1, 5 and 10 µm) added to (1) the ivm medium on oocyte nuclear maturation and developmental competence of ovine oocytes, and (2) to the ivc medium on embryonic development of ovine embryos were investigated.

consequence analysis of the leakage, ignition and explosion during high pressure sour gas injection process to the oil reservoir

there is no doubt that human being needs to become integrated with industry and industry needs to be progressed, daily. on the other hand, serious events in industrial units specially in oil industries has been shown that such damages and events are industry related ones. the consequence of such events and damages which resulted in chemical and poisoned explosions and loss of life and property ...

Evaluating radon loss from water during storage in standard PET, bio-based PET, and PLA bottles

Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polylactic acid (PLA) bottles were tested to evaluate radon loss from water during 15 days of storage. PET bottles (lower surface/volume-ratio vials) lost 0.4e7.1% of initial radon, whereas PLA bottles lost 3.7% of it. PET bottles with volume of 0.5 L, lower surface/weight ratio, and hence higher thickness display proportionally reduced radon loss. Correctio...
