Intrauterine Vertical Transmission of SARS COV2 Infection in Iranian Neonates

Abstract:

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-COV-2) is responsible for COVID-19 disease that is transmitted from human to human via respiratory droplets and contact routes. There is no clear accurate evidence about intrauterine transmission of COVID-19 infection among newborns. Case present :The present report aims at provid ing accurate and clear information about a one-day singleton newborn infant with positive PCR test. the infant was born from mother  infected with active COVID-19. Given the clinical and laboratory information provided from the infant with positive PCR test, the clinical and general conditions of the infant were good after Her birth and in the follow-up period, and the disease was asymptomatic in the newborns. Conclusion: Based on the findings of this report, this question strikes one’s mind: Has vertical intrauterine transmission of COVID-19 infection occurred?
