Internal Structure Features of Asphalt Mixture for Field Samples
Authors
Abstract:
Asphalt mixture is heterogeneous in nature; therefore, macroscopic parameters alone cannot describe the mechanical behavior of the mixture. In recent years, the arrangement of the aggregate particles in terms of spatial and directional distributions, and contact points are considered as the internal structure of asphalt. The main purpose of this paper is to investigate the microstructural characteristics of asphalt cores using 2-D images. Comparison between the internal structure features in the laboratory samples and the Field samples is shown in this paper. The results show that the survey of microstructural characteristics of asphalt cores by image processing provides new and useful information. This finding indicates that the number of contact points in cores is close to the lab samples that have been made at 45 to 65 blows on each end of the sample.

full textNew Model for Visco-Elastic Behavior of Asphalt Mixture with Combined Effect of Stress and Temperature
The analysis of pavements and their ingredients has always been important due to a good understanding of their behavior under different conditions; that leads to more accurate relations. Due to the extent of asphalt mixture application in the world, the assessment of different behaviors of this mix is very important from various aspects of performance and safety. Given that the asphalt mixtures...

This study investigated the effect of high asphalt binder replacement for a low N-design asphalt mixture including RAP and RAS on performance indicators such as permanent deformation, fracture, fatigue potentials, and stiffness, was studied. An experimental program included complex modulus, fracture, overlay reflective cracking resistance, wheel track permanent deformations, and push-pull fatig...

Nobody escapes the importance of the air/fuel mixture preparation in internal combustion engines, whatever is the thermodynamic cycle they work on and the adopted fuel. The short time between the fueling and the start of the combustion is crucial for the best mixture formation and its burning for energy optimization and the pollutant production. The always stringent vehicle emissions rules led ...

15 صفحه اولEffects of Warm-mix Asphalt Additives on Asphalt Mixture Characteristics and Pavement Performance
The primary objective of this research is to evaluate the feasibility of several WMA mixtures as potential asphalt paving mixtures for Nebraska pavements. To that end, three well-known WMA additives (i.e., Sasobit, Evotherm, and Advera synthetic zeolite) were evaluated. For a more realistic evaluation of the WMA approaches, trial pavement sections of the WMA mixtures and their HMA counterparts ...
