In Vitro induction of 3-hydrogenkwadaphnin production from Denrostellera lessertii seedlings
author
Abstract:
Denrostellera lessertii (Thymelaceae) is a native plant of Iran, which grows in limited area of Iran. So far, different groups have reported the anticancer products of many species of this family. The antitumor and anti-metastatic properties of D.lessertii have also been well worked out in our group and the most active component, 3-Hydrogenkwadaphnin has been purified and its chemical structure was established for the first time. For clinical application of this new anticancer agent, first we need to speed up the plant growth rate or its natural propagation. In that respect we induced germination of seeds and callus production as a probable source of 3-Hydrogenkwadaphnin. The results of seed germination, callus production and 3-Hydrogenkwadaphnin production quantities under various experimental conditions will be discussed. The innermost layer is very hard to break and this may explain the lack of natural germination, we removed the three coats, after sterilization of seeds, and placed the remnant on the M.S and/or B5-free-hormone media and kept at 25±3?C in the dark room

3-Hydrogenkwadaphnin from Dendrostellera lessertii induces differentiation and apoptosis in HL-60 cells.
3-Hydrogenkwadaphnin (3-HK) is a new diterpene ester, recently isolated from the leaves of Dendrostellera lessertii with potent anti-tumoral and anti-metastatic activities. Herein, we report that 3-HK induces differentiation and apoptosis in HL-60 cells. The drug at 2.5 - 40 nM inhibited proliferation of HL-60 cells after 24 - 96 h of treatment. Cell viability was also decreased by 57 % after 9...

Today’s medical word is highly dependent on severel natural products (e.g. taxol) in fighting different kinds of cancer and in constantly working to found new compounds. In this respect, 3-hydrogenkwadaphnin is a new diterpene ester isolated from Dendrostellera lessertii (Thymelaceae). It has been previously shown that this new compound has high anti-tumor activity and the capability of arresti...
full textPlasma membrane homing of tissue nonspecific alkaline phosphatase under the influence of 3-hydrogenkwadaphnin, an antiproliferative agent from Dendrostellera lessertii.
Several mammalian enzymes are anchored to the outer surface of the plasma membrane by a covalently attached glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) structure. These include acetylcholinesterase, alkaline phosphatase (AP) and 5'-nucleotidase among other enzymes. Recently, it has been reported that these membrane enzymes can be released into the serum by the GPI-dependent phospholipase D under various...

Dendrostellera lessertii (Thymelaeaceae) is a toxic plant that grows in parts of Iran. The anti-proliferative properties of its crude methanol extract and one of its active components, 3-hydrogenkwadaphnin (3-HK), have been established using several cancer cell lines. Methods: In a further attempt to determine the mode of action, two groups of synchronously growing cells were treated with a sin...
