Happiness from Fakhr Razi's Viewpoint

Authors

Abstract:

Fakhr Razi has spelled out some features and various divisions for happiness. Occasionally, he uses this word rather than the words such as pleasure and perfection. He believes that concepts such as happiness, perfection, pleasure, etc. may not be defined palpably because they are basically improvisational, abstract and unessential. Since pleasure and perfection have an intense relationship with happiness, utilizing the above concepts could be useful. As it is known by him, happiness has levels and degrees and it has also been treated with skepticism. It has some divisions including: spiritual, physical, and external ones. He sees the mundane happiness in the perfection of theoretical and practical powers of the human soul while achieving supreme mystical state of Divine obedience and the greatest degree of happiness, from his viewpoint, is visiting God in hereafter life which leads to the hereafter and eternal salvation. For him, the greatest degree of happiness will be achieved in hereafter life.

Moral Motivation From the Viewpoint of Fakhr ol-Din Razi

Moral motivation is an important issue in meta-ethics. Its three basic issues include the nature of moral motivation, the nature of the relationship between moral judgment and moral motivation, and the relationship between moral motivation and the nature of moral attributes. Fakhr’s views are scholastic and theological, and from the point of view of contemporary moral philosophy, a modern readi...

Measuring Happiness: From Fluctuating Happiness to Authentic–Durable Happiness

On the basis of the theoretical distinction between self-centeredness and selflessness (Dambrun and Ricard, 2011), the main goal of this research was to develop two new scales assessing distinct dimensions of happiness. By trying to maximize pleasures and to avoid displeasures, we propose that a self-centered functioning induces a fluctuating happiness in which phases of pleasure and displeasur...

Causality from western empiricism viewpoint, and its critique from transcendent philosophy viewpoint

Causality and its aspects is one of the fundamental issues in Islamic and western philosophy. Hence these philosophers denie...

Human Dignity and the Manipulation of the Sense of Happiness: From the Viewpoint of Bioethics and Philosophy of Life

If our sense of happiness is closely connected to brain functions, it might become possible to manipulate our brain in a much more refined and effective way than current methods allow. In this paper I will make some remarks on the manipulation of the sense of happiness and illuminate the relationship between human dignity and happiness. The President’s Council on Bioethics discusses this topic ...

Viewpoint from occluding contour

In this paper we present the geometry and the algorithms for organizing a viewer-centered representation of the occluding contour of polyhedra. The contour is computed from a polyhedral boundary model as it would appear under orthographic projection into the image plane from every viewpoint on the view sphere. Using this representation , we show how to derive constraints on regions in viewpoint...

Singularity from Eulerian Viewpoint

This is a survey on our work generalizing the classical Dehn-Sommerville equations (analogous to Poincaré duality, see [10]) for f -vectors of triangulations of manifolds without boundary to general polyhedra. Our key observation is that the exact data needed for the generalization is the classification of points of polyhedra by the Euler characteristics of their links. From this viewpoint, a p...
