Abstract:

Three murine monoclonal anti-ssDNA autoantibodies have been produced by fusion of spleen cells from NZB/NZW F1 hybrid mice with Sp2/0-Ag 14 murine myeloma cells. Specificity studies characterizing monoclonal anti - ssDNA autoantibodies revealed binding patterns for nucleotides. Clone E-4-1 showed preferential binding with mono-di-and polyguanosine. Clones E-4-4 and E-11-1 specitically bound mono-di-and polythymidine. Results of inhibition studies indicated an order of reactivity for each monoclonal autoantiby; polynucleotide) dinucleotide) mononucleotide.

Diagnostic issues in systemic lupus erythematosis.

A 24 year old woman was diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosis (SLE) based on a few months’ history of a photosensitive skin rash, predominantly on her face, arthralgia involving both hands and wrists, a positive antinuclear antibody (ANA) test and a raised antinative double stranded DNA antibody binding level. She was treated with oral hydroxychloroquine 400 mg daily and short courses of ...

Vascular manifestations of systemic lupus erythematosis.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune connective disease, where vascular lesions are one of the typical symptoms. The differentiation of the type of vascular complications in SLE is very difficult, sometimes impossible, and requires an in-depth immune and histopathological approach, and extensive clinical experience. It may play a key role in the choice of treatment strategy and p...

ANTINEUTROPHIL CY TOPLASMIC AUTOANTIBODIES IN SYSTEMIC LUPUS ERYTHEMATOSUS

Antineutrophil cytoplasmic autoantibodies (ANCA) were first described in patients with necrotizing glomerulonephritis. The original observation passed unnoticed until an association was made between ANCA and active Wegener's granulomatosis. Since then, tremendous progress has been made in elucidating the association between ANCA subtypes and clinicopathologic syndromes, and the potential p...

Familial congenital complete heart block and maternal systemic lupus erythematosis.

A family is reported in which two siblings had congenital complete heart block with resultant congestive heart failure, the father and paternal grandfather show adult-onset conduction defects, and the mother has systemic lupus erythematosis. The interaction of heredity and environment is discussed in this context. A review of the literature on familial complete heart block suggests that so-call...
