Abstract:

Background: The development of allergic rhinitis (AR) is caused by the interaction between genetic predisposition and environmental factors. In this study, the association between GATA3 single nucleotide polymorphisms and AR in an Iranian population was identified. Methods: This case-control study was performed on 86 patients with AR and 86 healthy subjects. This study aimed to evaluate a potential association between two GATA3 SNPs, rs1269486 and rs2229360, and AR. Blood samples were collected and DNA was extracted for the evaluation of these SNPs by RFLP-PCR. Results: A statistically-significant association was found between rs1269486 and AR (P<0.001). The frequencies of the A and GA genotypes were less in patients than in controls. The frequencies of the G allele and the GG genotype were greater in patients than in controls (P < 0.001). Conclusions: SNP rs1269486 of GATA3 was associated with AR and sensitivity to aeroallergens in our population. Because of the significance of this gene in AR, studying the association between GATA3 polymorphisms and AR is recommended for other populations.

FOXP3 and TGF-β Gene Polymorphisms in Allergic Rhinitis

Background: Regulatory CD4+T (Treg) cells are effective in maintaining immune tolerance. Objective: To investigate single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of Transforming Growth Factor β-1 (TGF-β1) and Forkhead Box Protein 3 (FOXP3) genes in Iranian patients with allergic rhinitis (AR). Methods: Variations at codons 10 and 25 of TGF-β1 and FOXP3 at positions -3279 A>C and -924 A>G were evaluated...

Association of Two Polymorphisms in H2B.W Gene with Azoospermia and Severe Oligozoospermia in An Iranian Population

Background During spermatogenesis, the H2B family, member W (H2B.W) gene, encodes a testis specific histone that is co-localized with telomeric sequences and has the potential role to mediate the sperm-specific chromatin remodeling. Previously H2B.W genetic variants were reported to be involved in susceptibility to spermatogenesis impairment. In the present study, two single nucleotide polymorp...

association between tnfaip3 gene polymorphisms and risk of allergic rhinitis in a chinese han population

tumor necrosis factor alpha-inducible protein 3 (tnfaip3) gene polymorphisms have been reported to be associated with the susceptibility to several immune-related diseases. here we investigated the effect of tnfaip3 gene polymorphisms on the risk of allergic rhinitis (ar) in a chinese han population. the case-control study included 540 ar patients and 524 healthy controls. genotyping for tnfaip...

Association Pattern of Interleukin-1 Receptor-Associated Kinase-4 Gene Polymorphisms with Allergic Rhinitis in a Han Chinese Population

OBJECTIVE Interleukin-1 receptor-associated kinase-4 (IRAK-4) encodes a kinase that is essential for NF-kB activation in Toll-like receptor and T-cell receptor signaling pathways, indicating a possible crosstalk between innate and acquired immunities. We attempted to determine whether the polymorphisms in the Interleukin-1 receptor-associated kinase-4 (IRAK-4) gene are associated with allergic ...
