Futures studies of hospital resilience supply chain with the intuitive logics scenario planning
Authors
Abstract:
Background: Scenario planning is one of the most crucial future study methods in uncertain and complex situations. Hospital supply chain resilience also requires an understanding of future events due to the complexity of relationships and exposure to unexpected circumstances. The purpose of this study is to formulate scenarios for the future development of hospital supply chain resilience. Materials & Methods: This research is the second stage of research with a mixed approach, and it is in the category of normative scenarios based on intuitive logic. Participants in this study were purposefully selected from the experts of two hospitals. In the first phase, the impact-uncertainty questionnaire and the effect-uncertainty diagram were used to determine the critical uncertainties. After forming the scenario team, based on the impact diagram and the scenario matrix, The cause and effect relationships of the variables were determined in the second phase. Results: Drivers of Hospital supply chain resilience were clustered into 14 main categories, and the results of the impact-uncertainty diagram showed that "people's culture" and "accident nature" play a more significant role in scenario development as critical uncertainties. Four scenarios were developed based on the opinion of experts for these two drivers. Conclusion: four scenarios, "compatible," "turbulent," "broken," and "combative," were developed based on the critical drivers in supply chain hospital resilience. Use the inspirational feature of these scenarios can help managers in health and crisis management be more prepared to face the crisis. Scenarios based on intuitive logic can be used for futures studies in other areas of the health system.

Scenario Planning in Supply Chain Risk Management
This paper studies the risks and uncertainties surrounding global food supply chains and finds that “scenario planning” which is a popular tool used in other sectors for risk identification, is less widely used to indentify risks within global food supply chains. Presented in this paper is a review of available literature and a discussion with regards to the feasibility of using scenario planni...

Scenario planning may assist us in harnessing the benefits of nanotechnology and managing the associated risks for the good of the society. Scenario planning is a way to describe the present state of the world and develop several hypotheses about the future of the world, thereby enabling discussions about how the world ought to be. Scenario planning thus is not only a tool for learning and fore...
full textFactors Influencing Hospital Supply Chain Resilience: A Qualitative Study
Background: The complexity and intensity of environmental fluctuations combined with unexpected accidents and dangers have increased the probability of hospital supply chain disruptions. Supply chain resilience has been suggested as a strategy for dealing with such challenges and for continued provision of appropriate and efficient services in hospital at the time of disaster. The present st...
full textImprove Supply Chain Resilience
Due to the global expansion of Company A's supply chain network, it is becoming more vulnerable to many disruptions. These disruptions often incur additional costs; and require time to respond to and recover from these disruptions. The base paper supply chain was identified as the most vulnerable area of the Company A Jurong and South & Southeast Asia Cluster supply chain; and a multi-stage sup...

The two objectives of this project were to develop an understanding of the challenges and opportunities of the supply chain of a family of currently marketed products manufactured overseas and distributed/sold worldwide and to increase the agility of the supply chain while achieving a target service level of 99% and maintaining or decreasing costs. A model was created to explore the current sup...
