FISSION FRAGMENT ANGULAR ANISOTROPIES AND INERTIA PARAMETERS
Authors: not saved
Abstract:
An analysis of selected fission fragment angular distributions from helium-ion induced fission is made using an exact theoretical expression. Theoretical anisotropies obtained with the transition state model are compared with their corresponding values deduced from the statistical scission model. The nuclear moment of inertia extracted from the model calculations are compared with their estimated values from a microscopic theory, which includes the nuclear pairing interaction [I]. Single particle levels of Nilsson eta!. are utilized. It is found that the value of the statistical parameter, Ko2(Ko2deff T/h2) is very sensitive to the energy gap parameter, A. The reduction of energy gap results in an increase in the moment of inertia. The effect of pairing interaction on the inertia parameters is illustrated and discussed

The number of neutrons emitted by compound nucleus before reaching the saddle-point ( ν pre) is calculated for 16 8 O+20882Pb , 12 6 C+23692U , 11 5 B+23793Np and 18 8 O+19779Au , h eavy-ion induced fission reaction systems. The behavior of angular anisotropies of fission fragments is normal for 16 8 O+20882Pb and 18 8 O+19779Au reaction systems, since the targets have spherical shapes. For th...

The fission fragment angular distributions have been measured for proton-induced fission of 209Bi and 197Au nuclei using surface barrier detectors at several energies between 25 MeV and 30 MeV. The experimental anisotropies are found to be in agreement with the predictions of the Standard Saddle-Point Statistical Model (SSPSM). The fission cross sections of 209Bi 197Au nuclei were also measur...

The recent investigations show that the size and mass number of the target nucleus in the heavy-ion fission reactions are very important for the angular distribution of fission fragments. In this work, we consider the behavior of fission fragment angular anisotropies within the standard saddle-point statistical model for the 168O, 188O, 199F, 2412Mg, 2814Si, 32 16 S+20882Pb fission reaction sy...
full textFission Fragment Angular Distribution measurements of 235U and 238U at CERN n_TOF facility
Neutron-induced fission cross sections of 238U and 235U are used as standards in the fast neutron region up to 200 MeV. A high accuracy of the standards is relevant to experimentally determine other neutron reaction cross sections. Therefore, the detection efficiency should be corrected by using the angular distribution of the fission fragments (FFAD), which are barely known above 20 MeV. In ad...
full textCmb Anisotropies: Total Angular Momentum Method
A total angular momentum representation simplifies the radiation transport problem for temperature and polarization anisotropy in the CMB. Scattering terms couple only the quadrupole moments of the distributions and each moment corresponds directly to the observable angular pattern on the sky. We develop and employ these techniques to study the general properties of anisotropy generation from s...
