EXTRACTION-SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC DETERMINATION OF AMMONIUM ION BY DIBENZO- 18-CROWN-6 AND CALMAGITE

Authors: not saved
Abstract:

An extraction-spectrophotometric method for the determination of trace amounts of ammonium ion is described. Ammonium ion is effectively extracted as a neutral ternary complex NH . DB 18C6. calmagite at pH 3.0 into chloroform, followed by spectrophotometric determination at =48 5 nm. Molar absorptivity of the ternary complex at this wavelength is 1.08 10 mol cm . Beer's law is obeyed over the range 0.5-9.0 g ml and the Sandell's sensitivity for 0.001 absorbance unit is 16.7 ng cm . The method is simple, rapid and free from interferences of several cations and anions which are usually present with NH ion in real samples

EXTRACTION-SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC DETERMINATION OF BENZOCAINE BY DICYCLOHEXYL-18-CROWN-6 AND CALMAGITE

A simple and sensitive extraction-spectrophotometric method for rapid and accurate determination of benzocaine in pure and dosage forms was developed. Benzocaine was effectively extracted as a 1:1 ion pair complex with dicyclohexyl-18-crown-6 and calmagite in acidic media into chloroform, followed by spectrophotometric determination at 486 nm. Molar absorptivity of the ternary complex at this w...

Dibenzo-18-crown-6

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(20)H(24)O(6), contains two mol-ecules that are identical within standard deviations concerning bond lengths and angles as well as their conformations. In the crystal structure, weak C-H⋯O inter-actions help to consolidate the packing.

Complexation of the ammonium cation with dibenzo-18-crown-6: extraction and DFT study.

From extraction experiments and gamma-activity measurements, the extraction constan corresponding to the equilibrium NH4(+)(aq) + 1*Na(+)(nb) <=> 1*NH4(+)(nb) + Na(+)(aq) taking place in the two-phase water - nitrobenzene system (1 = dibenzo-18-crown-6, aq = aqueous phase, nb = nitrobenzene phase) was evaluated as log K(ex) (NH4(+),1*Na(+)) = -0.1 +/- 0.1. Further, the stability constant of the...
