   Explaining the characteristics of peer-to-peer learning: A qualitative study Introduction: Learning through peers is an educational method. Explaining the characteristics of learning with the help of peers has not been done in a study, so the purpose of this study was to explain the characteristics of learning with the help of peers. Materials and Methods: This qualitative study was performed by contractual content analysis method in 1400. First, structured interviews were conducted with medical education professors and foreign and domestic studies on peer-assisted teaching were collected, and peer-to-peer teaching features were extracted from interviews and articles using qualitative content analysis techniques. Qualitative data analysis was performed using Max QD software version 10. Results: One main class, 13 subclasses and 92 codes were extracted. Subclasses include peer characteristics, person providing training or receiving peer training, how to provide training to peers or receive training from peers, planning training with peer assistance, evaluating training provided by peers, monitoring the delivery or receiving training from Peers, requesting to provide or receive training from peers, place of providing or receiving training from peers, subject of providing or receiving training from peers, having educational design, observance of material and spiritual rights of peers, informed consent of peers, benefits of using peers. Conclusion: Peer-to-peer learning characteristics extracted in this project will help to create a questionnaire to assess the status of peer-to-peer learning in medical students in teaching hospitals.
