Effects of ethanolic extract of Jasminum grandiflorum Linn. flowers on wound healing in diabetic Wistar albino rats
Authors
Abstract:
Objective: To evaluate wound healing activity of ethanolic extract of Jasminum grandiflorum Linn. (J. grandiflorum) flowers in diabetic rats. Materials and Methods: Streptozotocin-induced diabetic Wistar albino rats were divided into six groups (n=6).Three groups – diabetic control, positive control (that received Glibenclamide) and treatment (that received J. grandiflorum Linn. Flower extract) were operated for excision wounds (EW). These groups were evaluated for wound contraction and re-epithelization. The other three groups were operated for incision wounds (IW) and dead space wounds (DW). Incision and dead space wounds were produced in the same rats. IWs were analyzed for wound breaking strength and the granulation tissues from DWs were analyzed for dry weight, hydroxyproline content, and histology. Results: IWs and DWs showed significant improvement in wound breaking strength (265.8±10.4 vs 332.5±8.2; p

Influence of ethanolic extract of Jasminum grandflorum linn flower on wound healing activity in rats.
The influence of flower extract of Jasminum grandiflorum was studied for its wound healing activity at a dose of 250 mg/kg body weight, using excision and dead space wound models in rats. The animals were divided into three groups in excision wound model, the controls (n=10) were treated with 0.25% CM cellulose, reference standard (n=10) were treated with sulfathiazole ointment and the experime...
full textEfficacy of Jasminum grandiflorum L. leaf extract on dermal wound healing in rats.
Wound healing is a fundamental response to tissue injury and natural products accelerate the healing process. Here, we have explored the efficacy of topical administration of an ointment, prepared by methanolic extract of Jasminum grandiflorum L. (Oleaceae) leaves, on cutaneous wound healing in rats. The topical application of the Jasminum ointment on full thickness excision wounds accelerated ...
full textInfluence of Flower Head Aqueous Extract of Sphaeranthus indicus Linn. on Wound Healing in Albino Rats
The basic objective of the present work was to assess the wound healing activity of Sphaeranthus indicus flower head by providing better tissue formation and protection against microbial invasion. Various ointments of aqueous extracts in various proportions were prepared and subjected for assessment of wound healing activity in albino rats. Based on the comparison of wound healing activity of v...

The alcoholic extract of Guazuma ulmifolia was evaluated for their wound healing activity in Albino Wistar rats using chemically induced wound model. The experimental animals were chemically burned by conc HCL (80%), and then divided into four groups, control, standard (Nitrofurazone 0.2% w/w), low dose (125 mg/kg) and high dose (250mg/kg). The reepithelialization was evaluated by the reducing ...
