Effect of plantation with native and exotic species on soil CO2 emissions
Authors
Abstract:
The aim of this study was to investigate soil respiration in the plantation stands of Acer velutinum, Quercus castaneifolia, Fraxinus excelsior and Pinus brutia and to compare them with the natural stands in Sari educational-research forest of Darabkola. In order to measure physical and chemical properties of soil in each stand, 10 points were selected systematic randomly and samples were taken at a depth of 0-10 cm with coring method. Percentage of moisture, bulk density, pH, EC, organic carbon and total nitrogen were measured in the laboratory. Six 6 tubes (diameter and height = 10 cm) were installed at a depth of 0 - 10 cm in each stands in early September and soil respiration was measured using CO2-Port device (Germany). The highest soil pH (7.33 ± 0.07), potassium (940.4 ± 4) and phosphorus (88.6 ± 1.52) were observed in Acer velutinum plantation and the lowest soil moisture content (35.21 ± 0.86), pH (6.83 ± 0.77) and EC (0.26 ± 0.02) were obtained in Pinus brutia plantation. The highest soil respiration was observed in Acer velutinum and Quercus castaneifolia plantation stands and the lowest was found in Pinus brutia and Fraxinus excelsior plantation stands, which was significantly lower than the control stand. In general, results showed that Acer velutinum plantation had positive effects on soil properties.

15 صفحه اولThe Effect of Auto Tariff Protections on CO2 Emissions
According to released official statistics of greenhouse gas emissions in 2010, CO2, which is produced by fossil fuels and industrial processes, accounts for 65 percent of total global greenhouse gas emissions. The transport sector, in turn, is responsible for 23% of CO2 emissions. Researchers have been claiming that car manufacturers have not made significant efforts to reduce the pollution lev...
full textEffect of dolomite and biochar addition on N2O and CO2 emissions from acidic tea field soil
A laboratory study was conducted to study the effects of liming and different biochar amendments on N2O and CO2 emissions from acidic tea field soil. The first experiment was done with three different rates of N treatment; N 300 (300 kg N ha-1), N 600 (600 kg N ha-1) and N 900 (900 kg N ha-1) and four different rates of bamboo biochar amendment; 0%, 0.5%, 1% and 2% biochar. The second experimen...
full textReciprocal Effects of Litter from Exotic and Congeneric Native Plant Species via Soil Nutrients
Invasive exotic plant species are often expected to benefit exclusively from legacy effects of their litter inputs on soil processes and nutrient availability. However, there are relatively few experimental tests determining how litter of exotic plants affects their own growth conditions compared to congeneric native plant species. Here, we test how the legacy of litter from three exotic plant ...
