Abstract:

Peltier technology opens new opportunities for specialapplications. In the current project, this technology was appliedto design and fabricate a portable thermoelectric beveragecooler and thermoelectric cup. The simulation and results of theexperiment showed that the common beverage cooler is not asuitable design for ignoring the effect of natural convection incooling. In our thermoelectric cup, the drawbacks of previousdesign were eliminated. The advantages of the present designover the former design are the heat sink's temperature reductionfrom 60°C to about 31°C, and the cooling process enhancement, such that the water was cooled down to about 7°C.

Fluid Flow and Heat Transfer of Nanofluids over a Flat Plate with Conjugate Heat Transfer

The falling and settling of solid particles in gases and liquids is a natural phenomenon happens in many industrial processes. This phenomenon has altered pure forced convection to a combination of heat conduction and heat convection in a flow over a plate. In this paper, the coupling of conduction (inside the plate) and forced convection of a non-homogeneous nanofluid flow (over a flat plate) ...

Micro thermoelectric cooler: Planar multistage

A suspended, planar multistage micro thermoelectric (TE) cooler is designed using thermal network model to cool MEMS devices. Though the planar (two-dimensional) design is compatible with MEMS fabrication, its cooling performance is reduced compared to that of a pyramid (three-dimensional) design, due to a mechanically indispensable thin dielectric substrate (SiO2) and technical limit on TE fil...

Heat Transfer Enhancement in Thermoelectric Power Generation

Heat transfer plays an important role in thermoelectric (TE) power generation because the higher the heat-transfer rate from the hot to the cold side of the TE material, the higher is the generation of electric power. However, high heat-transfer rate is difficult to achieve compactly when the hot and/or the cold sources are maintained by a flow of gas such as waste heat from the gas exhaust of ...
