Abstract:

In this study, “Tak Cell” probiotic, based on eight-year studies (2009- 2016) of the Iranian Fisheries Sciences Research Institute in National Shrimp Research Institute, and produced in collaboration with the “Tak Zhen Zist ®” company, was added to the diet of western white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) weighing more than 6 grams (in three Different quantities 106, 107 and 108 CFU/Kg) and health indicators (including THC, TPP and DHC) were determined at the beginning and the end of the test period. For this purpose, shrimp was randomly selected and kept in 150-liter aquariums (30 Shrimps in each aquarium). The Shrimps were treated in three treatments and each with three replications and negative control (no probiotic and disease agent) and positive control (With probiotic). In each treatment, shrimps were fed with the “Tak Cell” probiotic pellet three times a day for 40 days and the parameters of temperature; salinity and oxygen were recorded during the test. After 40 days, exposure to white spot virus was challenged and daily mortality and survival rate was recorded for 2 weeks. According to Robertson et. al key, shrimp in the phase between two molting selected and hemolymph sampling was Carried out and the health index, including Total Hemocyte Count (THC), Differentiated Hemocyte Count (DHC) and Total Plasma Protein (TPP) were measured and compared with positive and negative control groups. According to the results, concluded that feeding Litopenaeus vannamei with diets containing 107 and 108 CFU/Kg were significantly increase (P≤0.05). The performance of shrimp immune system and health indicators. In addition, the fed of these diets is effective in increasing the survival rate of shrimp exposure to white spot virus in comparison with the control (P<0.05).

Noradrenaline modulates the immunity of white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei.

The total haemocyte count (THC), phenoloxidase activity, respiratory burst, superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity, phagocytic activity and clearance efficiency in response to pathogen Vibrio alginolyticus were measured when the white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei (18.4 +/- 1.2 g) were injected individually with noradrenaline at 10(-8), 10(-7) and 10(-6) mol shrimp(-1). For the shrimp that received ...

The protective effect of chitin and chitosan against Vibrio alginolyticus in white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei.

White shrimp, Litopenaeus vannamei, which had been injected with chitin at 4, 6 and 8 microg g(-1) or chitosan at 2, 4 and 6 microg g(-1), were challenged with pathogen Vibrio alginolyticus at 2 x 10(6) colony-forming units (cfu) shrimp(-1) and then placed in seawater of 34 per thousand. The survival of shrimp that received chitin or chitosan at either dose was significantly higher than that of...

Effects of Inactivated Spot White Virus with radiation on Immune Parameters and Survival Rate of White ‎Leg Shrimp (Litopenaeus Vannamei)‎

The present resaerch was designed to evaluate the effects of Inactivated  Spot White Virus with radiation (gamma irradiant WSSV) on survival rate and immunity factors(THC, TPP, PO, SOD, POD) of white leg shrimp. The experiment was done in Bandar Imam Khomeini hatcheries from November 2013 until February 2014.  In this study, the survival rate and immunological parameters of shrimp that exposed ...

Draft Genome Sequence of White Spot Syndrome Virus Isolated from Cultured Litopenaeus vannamei in Mexico.

The first genome sequence of a Mexican white spot syndrome virus is presented here. White spot syndrome is a shrimp pandemic virus that has devastated production in Mexico for more than 10 years. The availability of this genome will greatly aid epidemiological studies worldwide, contributing to the molecular diagnostic and disease prevention in shrimp farming.

Transcriptome Analysis of Litopenaeus vannamei in Response to White Spot Syndrome Virus Infection

Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) is the most extensively farmed crustacean species in the world. White spot syndrome virus (WSSV) is one of the major pathogens in the cultured shrimp. However, the molecular mechanisms of the host-virus interaction remain largely unknown. In this study, the impact of WSSV infection on host gene expression in the hepatopancreas of L. vannamei was inves...
