Abstract:

An ecological approach has been obtained by using natural dyes and mordant for dyeing process. Fabrics dyed using myrobalan extract as natural mordants and green dye. A red color were obtained by using theses mordants. The color of dyed fabrics was investigated in CIELab L, a and b and K/S values. Finally, all dyed fabrics were tested for wash and light fastness properties as per ISO standard test methods. The results of using biomordants for fabrics dyeing were comparable with that of the metallic mordants in terms of color strength and fastness properties. myrobalan extract as biomordants produced red color with medium fastness properties and thus offer full potential to replace metal salts in dyeing process.

Comparison of dyeing of polyester fibers with natural dye and bio-mordant

In this study, dyeing of two regenerated polyester fibers, poly-trimethylene terephthalate (PTT) and poly-lactic acid (PLA), with natural dyes were compared with that of poly-ethylene terephthalate (PET) fiber. Lac was used as the primary natural colorant while Catechu was chosen as a natural color that can also act as a biomordant. The effects of temperature, initial pH of dye bath and dyeing ...

Green Dyeing of Silk Fabrics in the Presence of Pomegranate Extract as Natural Mordant

An ecological approach has been obtained by using natural dyes and mordant for dyeing process. Silk fabrics dyed using natural mordants: powder of sour pomegranate and sweet pomegranate and mixture them. A beautiful red color were obtained by using theses mordants. The color of dyed silk fabrics was investigated in CIE Lab L, a and b and K/S values. Finally, all dyed fabrics were tested for was...

Extraction of Natural Dye from Osyris Quadripartita and Application in Dyeing of Cotton Fabrics

Natural dyes are widely used in the coloring of food, leather and wood [1]. Traditionally they were the only colorants for textile fibers like wool, silk, cotton and flax. Their use in textiles declined drastically with the introduction of synthetic dyes in 1856 [2-6]. Presently the use of synthetic dyes is estimated at around 10,000,000 tons per annum [7-11]. The manufacture and use of this la...

Dataset on analysis of dyeing property of natural dye from Thespesia populnea bark on different fabrics

The natural dyes separated from plants are of gaining interest as substitutes for synthetic dyes in food and cosmetics. Thespesia populnea (T. populnea) is widely grown plant and used in the treatment of various diseases. This study was aimed to separate natural dye from T. populnea bark and analysis of its dyeing property on different fabrics. In this investigation pharmacognostic study was ca...

Dyeing Properties Using Natural Dyes from Rhubarb:

In this investigation dyeing of alginate fiber was carried out after cationic treatment of 11 EPTAC (2, 3-Epoxypropyl Trimethyl Ammonium Chloride). Optimum dyeing process and 12 parameter show good dyeing performance when alginate fiber dyed with rhubarb dye. In addition 13 to cationic treatment is taken into account for alginate fiber to improve fastness, color strength, 14 breaking strength. ...

Impact of Chitosan-poly(amidoamine) Dendreimer Hybrid Treatment on Dyeing and Color Fastness Properties of Wool Yarn with Madder Natural Dye

In recent years, chitosan and its different derivatives have been extensively used in surface modification and functional finishing of textiles. In this study, wool yarns used in handmade carpet were treated with different concentrations of chitosan-poly (amidoamine) dendrimer hybrid (Ch-PAMAM) and characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), and their dyeing properties were investi...
