Abstract:

Introduction: The purpose of the present study was to determine whether the novel marker, body adiposity index (BAI), is accurate to measure percentage of body fat (PBF). Materials and methods: Seventy-eight males were undergone anthropometric examination. PBF was calculated by BAI and measured using InBody 3.0.   Results: Significant correlation was found between BAI and PBF (r = 0.751; P < 0.001). Conclusion: PBF can be measured by BAI, which is calculating from hip circumference and height and we validated this novel index. Therefore, it can be widely used in the clinical settings.

all in-flight medical emergencies. This may be redundant because each airline’s medical department keeps a record of emergencies and their outcome. If an emergency can be stabilized sufficiently to allow the flight to proceed without diversion, it saves the airline money, and for this reason if no other, there is a strong motivation to provide a truly useful kit. The authors also recommended a ...

The Role of Body Adiposity Index in Determining Body Fat Percentage in Colombian Adults with Overweight or Obesity

The aim of this study is to investigate the accuracy of body adiposity index (BAI) as a convenient tool for assessing body fat percentage (BF%) in a sample of adults with overweight/obesity using bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA). The study population was composed of 96 volunteers (60% female, mean age 40.6 ± 7.5 years old). Anthropometric characteristics (body mass index, height, waist-to...

Body mass index as a measure of percentage body fat prediction and excess adiposity diagnosis among Iranian adolescents.

BACKGROUND Although various anthropometric methods are available for assessing body composition, these have not been compared in Iranian adolescents. The objective of the present study was to compare body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), waist to hip ratio (WHR), waist to height ratio (WHtR) and sum of four skinfolds as predictors of percentage body fat (PBF) and diagnosis of excess ...

Body Adiposity Index Performance in Estimating Body Fat Percentage in Colombian College Students: Findings from the FUPRECOL—Adults Study

Recently, a body adiposity index (BAI = (hip circumference)/((height)(1.5))-18) was developed and validated in adult populations. The aim of this study was to evaluate the performance of BAI in estimating percentage body fat (BF%) in a sample of Colombian collegiate young adults. The participants were comprised of 903 volunteers (52% females, mean age = 21.4 years ± 3.3). We used the Lin's conc...

The Relationship between Skinfold Thickness and Body Mass Index in Estimating Body Fat Percentage on Bowen University Students

Body Mass Index (BMI) is a weight-to-height ratio used as a quick and easy guide to obesity classification. BMI of 30 or greater is indicative of excess body fat and has been labelled as increasing the risk of degenerative diseases such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Body fat percentage is also assessed through skinfold thickness measurement.. The aim of this study was to estimate the ...

Comparison of body mass index with body fat percentage in the evaluation of obesity in Chinese.

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the present Chinese body mass index (BMI) criteria with body fat percentage (BF%) in determining obesity in Chinese population. METHODS A total of 4 907 subjects (age: 20-90 yrs) were enrolled in the baseline survey of a longitudinal epidemiological study, and 2 638 of them were reevaluated in 5.5 years later. The Chinese BMI and WHO BF% were used to define obesity, resp...
